I went there to find some things for a trip I'm excited to go on. Staff were unhelpful, unfriendly, the opposite of what you need when buying equipment for a trip. Cotswolds down the road are far more friendly!

Sweet people but could do with some help. A uniform for all staff would also be helpful so customers can distinguish people between other customers and staff. Took me ages to get out!

Short version:

Very little available stock and really poor service, I think due to bad management. Staff don't appear to be trained (or allowed?) to do anything outside of their zone which is really inefficient. I’ve never left a bad review before but it was a really toxic atmosphere in the shop when we went. I feel bad for the staff who are clearly also having a bad time. Please train your staff and get some stock!

Long version (in the hope that someone will go in and change how things are run):

In the first five minutes we heard a member of staff tell three different customers to ask someone else even though no other staff were around so they just ended up milling around confused and then leaving. For the whole time we were in the shop he never helped anyone so I'm not sure that's a good system. He didn't seem to be a security guard either as when the alarm went off because a tag had been left on someone's jacket, he just told them they'd have to go back to the till and wait in the queue again, which seemed strange when it was Blacks' mistake.

We then asked a staff member in the shoe section to try on a pair of boots and were told to ‘ask someone in the shoe section’ and she walked away. She then came back and took the boots huffily. We asked about six boots and each time they didn’t have the size available. On the final pair before we gave up we were silently presented with a totally different boot than we asked for and when we asked about it she snapped 'well yeh because we don't have the ones you asked for'. That’s fine but it might be helpful to say that. However it’s not great because there just wasn’t any stock for size 9 or 10 men’s boots which are quite common sizes. We heard other customers having similar difficulties with kids sandals and women’s boots.

We then waited for over 15 minutes for another shoe, and three people went to look for it because no one seemed to know where to look. We were the lucky ones though because there were others waiting with no-one helping. We were then given the display pair and the one that had been on display was aged/browned on the inside. When we were told that it was the only pair available (Where is their stock?), my very shy other half managed to ask if there would be a discount for having the duffed up display pair. At this point two staff ganged up to embarrass him. They went back and forth saying ‘Where is the damage?’ ‘Yeh exactly go on show us where the damage is’ ‘Yeh I can’t see any damage’ ‘Yeh what are you talking about that’s ridiculous’ ‘Go on show us exactly where this ‘damage’ is… exactly you can’t because there isn’t any’. I was horrified to see my partner struggle to get his words out while they carried on. One of them rolled her eyes at me as if I was going to join in the bullying. Really unprofessional and hurtful. It is not unusual to have a discount when it is a display item, particularly when there is no other stock, so to ridicule my partner was totally uncalled for. They could’ve just said ‘it’s not store policy to do that’! They ended up calling their manager and about two metres away from us he led a loud sarcastic conversation about us ending in ‘everything is a display pair what are they talking about’. It is from the way the manager acted that makes me think the toxic atmosphere stems from him and they really must have very little stock if it's only display pairs. We overheard a couple of other customers in heated discussions with staff members so it’s clearly the way this shop is run – dodgy!

Although the Blacks website looks good, I wouldn’t recommend going into the Wimbledon shop - there just aren’t available sizes and everything takes forever with a lot of huffing and puffing. Is this store being run down to eventually be closed? Much better to order online or click and collect because you can collect in JD Sports and Millets as well.

Great sale on at blacks. Although some of their items were wrongly labelled and from what the staff had said it had been like that since the day before, so I really didn't understand why they were still showing the incorrect pricing. Other than that the staff were knowledgable and friendly. I was given a 20% off voucher for my pricing trouble so all is forgiven. But management need to sort themselves out to ensure their floor staff don't have angry customers demanding they honer at £85 price tag for a £140 per of shoes.

We've just bought our brand new house and despite of everyone telling us that all estate agents are pushy and not interested in helping, out, our experience with Rob has been just the opposite. He went beyond his responsibilities helping us with things that he shouldn't have helped. An example was when we asked him to visit again the property to measure some spaces in order to get our white goods on the same day that when were moving, and he did it when he was on vacation. Even after the operation was closed we asked him for help with the previous owner to sort out some things and he did, an example was asking him for help with the boiler. Thanks a lot Rob.
