We have always shopped at Chatsworth Farm Shop until very recently; now we prefer to find other outlets and use mainly local farmers' markets in preference. Why? Chatsworth Farm Shop used to sell quality, specialty food which was sourced locally - you could get beans from local gardens, and the majority of the food sold was in season. Now, they are becoming just another shop with imprted goods (biltong, Australian licorice, peppers from Holland, flaourless, odourless tomatoes etc), butter from miles away (Devon, when they have one of the best dairies less than 10 miles away!), and food which has seen better days on offer at premium prices. Chatsworth's buyer seems to be going more on price than quality, and this is reflected in the shop - many people I know have stopped shopping there as the quality of their goods is now so low, and we feel that it is better to support the local producers - which Chatsworth doesn't seem to do any more.
