I wrote my first review too soon (and can't amend it!) As soon as pressure built up in the barrel during secondary fermentation, the tap started leaking through the washer. The first time I put it down to not having tightened it properly but in fact, after two wasted beer kits and much experimentation, I think either the washer is the wrong size or the hole in the barrel (for the tap) is faulty. It is not possible to get the right level of tightness on the nut for the washer - too loose and it leaks, have it tight and the washer warps and so it leaks. I gave up on this barrel and bought the KK Top Tap Barrel instead, which is great.

I've had a few of these for the last 12 years or so and they work great, you won't have any problem with them. On top of that you can buy spares for them. Buy with confidence, it's a good product.

My KK is working well, i.e. exactly as I would expect. When it arrived I did have to tighten the bottom tap (and ensure that the rubber seal was sitting properly) - I suspect this is what caused the leaks for the first reviewer. If you do this and then test the seal by filling the barrel with water before the first use then all should be well.

terrible! it recommends a 'drip tray' - drip bucket more like! I had 20+ litres of good ale and lost about 3 pints each day through a poor/leaking tap. Add Co2 and the drip becomes a gush - all this with the tap firmly closed. unuseable.
