OK - the MR may have gone into liquidation and we are unlikely to receive any money back however why dont you do something that will help?
The Official Receiver's office which is dealing with investigating the conduct of the directors is in Croydon, Tel no: 020 86815166. Feel free to call them and let them have any information that you will feel will be helpful when they investigate the activities of the company and the directors. I have just spoken to Vodafone who told me that a company called Mobile Logistic, (who handled the connections to Vodafone on behalf of The Mobile Republic) are dealing with unhappy Mobile Republic customers who have contracts with Vodafone. They are disconnecting my phone immediately. No reimbursement though... Their number is 01670 594 866.

Hi everyone, i took the same deal as aamena and got ripped off just the same but we'll never get our money now because they really have gone Bankrupt (i got a call from Croydon Trading Standards yesterday).
So now we can't even sue; in fact, since they were a limited company, we can do **** all. I'm currently in the process of trying to cancel my contract with a very unsympathetic Vodafone and i desperately need help from you lot. Basically, i need a copy of Terms and Conditions of the deal aamena has described below. A copy of the Rebate Vocuher would be helpful too, as Vodafone has requested these as evidence. Your help would be greatly appreciated.
It seems the laws of this country are geared specifically in favour of companies, rather than consumers. It is sick.

Unfortunately I have to add my name to the list of those victimised by the mobile republic (www.themobilerepublic.com). I have posted another review on this site under the alias 'an0n':
http://www.reviewcentre.com/reviews3345.html
You'll notice that there are many more people in the same situation, astoundingly going way back to 2002. Many have contacted trading standards but fantastically nothing has been done about it and the mobile republic are still trading. They even contacted me by phone a week ago trying to sell me another phone after they took cash from my debit card without ever supplying what I ordered, to this date I have not recieved any correspondance from them regarding a refund. When I told the person who rang me with the offer that I had been ripped off by the mobile republic he said that it would be looked into.
Haven't heard anything yet.
As I stated in my other review there are things you can do, my bank is currently chasing up a refund for me which is most gratifying. I've also contacted as many sites as I could find on google that link to the mobile republic and many have removed links when I told them what happened to me and others. One online shopping guide told me that they had already tried to get the mobile republic to remove the link but they would not.
Save all copies of your correspondance with them as proof to trading standards that they have run you in circles (you'll notice a lot of people jumping through rather similar hoops). Also contact watchdog, the UK consumer rights programme.
Here's hoping we can get these guys shut down.

I have also had great problems with the mobile republic but I managed to get my cash back through my credit card company and disputed the amount as I was never provided a phone and then they even sent me a cheque that bounced due to "insufficient funds"... The credit card company agreed and gave me my cash back.
For those who need extra help, I did some digging around after I also had the run around on the tickets (this is all available from their website if you know where to look).
I believe their address is 102-116 Windmill Road, Croydon, CR0 2XQ (It's where you apply to for a job at TMR).
The MD is Henry Amankwah and his email is h.amankwah@themobilerepublic.com.
The FD is Saboor Sandhu and his email is s.sandhu@themobilerepublic.com.
The operartions director is Marvin Mcqueen and his email address is m.mcqueen@themobilerepublic.com.
These guys ARE a bunch of bandits, but don't give up trying to get the cash back. They are a prime example of why you should pay by credit card, as that offers more protection than paying by debit card.

well - looks like i've been lucky (kind of) - ordered a T610 last august from them and it arrived - no problems with that one. however then received a phone call about the free SIM card (contract but refunded) - thought i should check it out so agreed. when i got the SIM card i was also led to believe a phone was coming with it so i waited - that was in Dec - never arrived - following that there many tickets and phone calls with promises of finding a 'solution' and getting back to me but they couldn't just get in touch with T-Mobile. However after starting to pay out for the contract i cancelled the DD that had been setup without my permission - the money owed to T-Mobile started to build up - so i got in touch with them to make them aware of the problems with Mobile Republic. but the waiting for responses from MR carried on and ended up with debt collection letters from T-Mobile - so i ended up paying my way with them - during this phone call i found that all it would have taken was a phone call from MR to T-Mobile saying it was a mistake, to cancel the contract (i've never opened the SIM card package and they all know this). now i'm no longer getting any response from Mobile Republic and they owe me £75 and growing for another 6 months. They are a completely dishonest company. I would urge anyone to NOT TRUST THEM WITH ANYTHING.

I made the mistake of buying a mobile phone from Mobile Republic which had a £6.00/month rebate and as yet with over 50 emails (tickets submitted) I still can't get my money back. I am disabled and can well do without extra hassle. I would not recommend buying from this company.

This is without doubt the worst company I have ever dealt with. I was taken in by a deal which appeared too good to be true - A Nokia 3510 phone for free, plus 6 months line rental free (provided I signed up for a year's contract).
The deal was that I would pay the first 6 months line rental to Orange. After the 6 months Orange would continue to bill me but I would receive a refund from the Mobile Republic.
I ordered 2 phones in January 2003 and when they were dispatched (eventually, after a lot of delay and a pack of lies from the helpdesk), a voucher/form was included which I was required to complete and return to enable the company to process the refund.
Of course, I have never received a penny and they now owe me £180 (i.e. 6 months line rental x 2). Each time I contact them, they send me out a new voucher/form to complete. I have now filled in these bits of paper 3 times, but the refund has not materialised.
Over the past couple of weeks, they have continually fobbed me off with lies and excuses. I think they have a library of lies/excuses, and they select one at random, each time they get an email to the helpdesk (what a misnomer!), as the excuse is often totally irrelevant to the query raised.
I have now been in contact with Trading Standards in Croydon (the company is based in Croydon) and am hoping they can help. I'm also planning on contacting the BBC Watchdog programme. I'm utterly determined that these cowboys will not get away with it.
Their helpdesk system is a sham and customer service is not a term they understand.
