I had a tiscali tv, broadband and calls package. It worked well for a few months until I added an extra viewing package. After that I could not get it off on line. Numerous 087 phonecalls later no one was able to get it off my bills! They couldnt for some unknown reason set up my direct debit as well and kept sending me red notices. They confirmed payments which I hadn't made and vice versa. It was a nightmare. My letter of complaint got a response so dull and unhelpful that I felt like sending another letter of complaint about the letter of complaint! Many of the times the customer services reps were heard saying the system is acting up or it is down. Once they were unable to actually take a payment over the phone because their system wasnt working. When things are going ok, you get what you pay for. Broadband speeds were ok for me (no online gaming). Tiscali tv was rather clunky and the remote and the menu system was a nightmare to navigate as it would overshoot frequently. Go for it if you are preapred to put up with a lot of bad service.

My experience of Tiscali has been disasterous. My son signed up for Tiscali broadband in October last year but was later told a connection could not be made to the address. No modem or letter was ever sent to him confirming a connection. However 8 months later when he opened his bank statement he found he has been charged about £180.00 for internet connection which he has never used or been able to use. I was horrified that Tiscali will not refund this money because they say a connection was made. We were never aware of this and are now trying other avenues of redress including legal action. I will never use them again because in my view they are not customer focused, and appear to be inflexible and only there to protect their profit margins.

When I hear that Tiscali broadband in number 32 out of 36 broadband providers, I am always surprised. Can there really be four broadband providers that are worse that Tiscali? Apparently so, and that is truly pathetic. You do have to give them a tiny bit of credit however, they do charge less that their “competition”.
1. Tiscali does not have the bandwidth capacity to support their customers, in the evenings and weekends, speeds can drop to 20KBs on an 8MB DSL line.
2. You have to dial a premium 871 number at 10 / minute to get in touch with customer support. Expect to spend a lot of time on hold too.
3. Customer support is in India, and the people there are only interested in getting you off the line, not to help you. Tiscali’s own online support is flooded with complaints about calls to support.
4. Customer support will make appointments that are not followed through, it’s always nice to take a day off work expecting an engineer to visit but Tiscali has no record of such.
5. There is clearly no accountability in Customer Support, no records are kept, and incorrect information is logged. Service tickets are closed without the problem being resolved, again there are numerous complaints in regards to this online.
6. Online support is very slow, while their staff is clearly 1000 times more competent than those in India, they are also swamped.
