I sent film for processing on 25th September, still waiting for photo's although cheque was cashed on 16th October.
I have emailed York three times in last week but they must be too busy to respond.
Think I can say goodbye to my snaps and money.

York Excel - Going downhill, nearly hit the bottom? Rating of 2

I sent 3 films for prints and CD, 30 Sept 2003 the cheque was cleared by my bank 14 Oct 2003. Express postage was paid. I have not yet received the prints 23 Oct 2003. I have complained by email and got the following response:
"...We are currently experiencing an unusual backlog within our plant .......If it is more than 4 weeks since you posted your order please call our customer care ......... If you have requested Photos on CD please allow an additional 14 days (on top of our specified14 days) ......... If your order is APS please allow an additional 7 days ........"
I have (perhaps I now should say had) been using York & York Excel for 15 plus years, the service and quality were very good but have been running downhill over the last year or so. It's hard to see York Excel remaining in business much longer offering such a service. I understand that Truprint in another brand of the same outfit and the "The UK High Street" reviews show the same problem

Needless to say, next day, my prints arrived (24 Oct 2003). However, this is still a really slow service. I've been sent a voucher for express service but it says it's not valid for orders for CDs! New mailers now give 14 days for CD orders (in very small print) but its not clear that the extra charge for express does not work when CDs are ordered. As its necessary to cross out this charge, it's a sort of inertia selling technique.
Now considering going digital to avoid any film processor

York Photo Delays Rating of 1

I sent my films to York on August 21. They cashed my cheque on September 2, and I have still not got my films back. Won't use them again :(

I have now found out why (a) delivery takes so long or (b) the photos never arrive at all. York have in many areas stopped using the Post Office to deliver their mail. They are now using the MILKMAN. I kid you not. Their customers are getting their photos delivered on a milk float.

Is a dairy a good place for mail handling; are the goods secure; are the mail handlers who are more used to handling two pints of gold top than parcels of photographs up to the job?

You may well ask. Looking at the number of complaints in this section and the fact that some people's photos never arrive at all, the answer does not seem to be too hard to discern.

York Photo-Not what it was Rating of 1

I have been using York Photo for all my processing for 15 years and have been very satisfied. However, I have been waiting for films to be returned (on their express service) for over 4 weeks. The customer service line is impossible to reach and open mornings only. If you are lucky enough to get through they cannot track individual orders and ask you to please be patient as they have technical problems. Complaints by email get a standard response. I will never use them again!
