As part of your club membership we will keep you up to date on the latest books, DVDs, CDs and other services by post and by email.

Every month you'll receive our FREE magazine, with detailed descriptions of every book. A special feature in your Club magazine is the Editor's Choice which has been specially selected for its quality and value. If you do not want to receive the Editor's Choice just let us know by going online, by phone or by returning the form provided.
From the 1000's of books offered, your agreement is to buy just 2 more books, in addition to your introductory offer, in your first year of membership. After that you continue to be a member and it is entirely up to you whether you buy further books. Just remember to let us know each month whether you want to receive the Editor's Choice. You can cancel your membership any time after you have bought the agreed number of books.
The postage and packaging charge for your introductory parcel is Ł1.99. Please allow 7 to 10 working days for delivery.
Membership of this club is limited to one membership per household, and the offer is only available in the UK.
Membership is subject to acceptance and we may consult a licensed credit agency that may record the search. Applicants must be over 18 years of age.

Welcome Letter

Thank you for joining Books Direct and a very warm welcome!

You have a great deal to look forward to as a member of your Book Club and your introductory books are just the start of the benefits you'll enjoy! To ensure you get the most from your membership please take a few moments to read this explanation of how your club works.

As a member, every month you'll receive the Club Magazine packed with a huge range of new titles that our expert Editors have selected. Books are offered to you at up to 40% off the publisher's price, saving you money right from the start. We also bring you exclusive offers every month, the latest news on up-and-coming authors, author reviews, competitions and much more.

Your Editor's Choice
A special feature of your Club Magazine is the Editor's Choice. Every month, your Editor will offer you a new title(s) that has been chosen especially for its quality and value. Simply let us know your preference every month. If you'd like to receive the Editor's Choice, do nothing and it will be sent to you automatically approximately four weeks after the Club Magazine. If you'd like to receive it immediately, just tick the YES box and it will be sent to you straight away. If you do not wish to receive the Editor's Choice, simply let us know by going online, by phone or putting an X in the NO box and returning it to us.

Your Membership Agreement
In return for your special introductory offer, you agree to buy at least 2 books in 12 months; this is your Membership Agreement. Fulfilling it is easy - we offer a great range of books to choose from. Once you have bought the agreed number of books, you are not obliged to buy any more, you will continue to receive the club magazine and be offered the Editor's Choice and will remain a member until you cancel your membership.

Remember, one of the benefits of membership is that ALL our books are sent to you on 10-days approval so you only pay for them once you have received them. If you want to return a book, for whatever reason, just send it back to us and your account will be credited.

All you need to do now!
You should have already received an email from us with your username and password. If not, you can register a username and password at http://www.booksdirect.co.uk/activate.

If you decide you do not wish to become a member you must return your introductory books within your 10-day trial period and your payment will be refunded. We're confident that you will love the many benefits and features of your Book Club, and we look forward to bringing more great offers to you for many years to come!

Information about Your Membership

Your Membership Agreement
In return for your introductory offer you agree to buy the number of books specified overleaf. Note; these are in addition to the introductory offer. If you do not wish to become a Book Club member, you must return your introductory books within 10 days. If you wish to cancel your membership, please contact our Customer Services department. It would be helpful if you could give us your reasons for cancelling.
Please note: At the time of cancellation, if you have not bought the number of books you agreed to buy, you will be charged a cancellation charge of Ł10 for each book outstanding. You may choose to either pay the cancellation charge, or purchase additional books to fulfil your membership agreement. All books you purchase will count towards your membership agreement, except where indicated in your club magazine.

Returns
As a member you can return any book up to 10 days after receipt. If you return a book after that, a handling charge may be added to your account. When the book is received by us, its value will be credited to your account. Of course, you can return wrong or damaged items at any time. For a replacement or refund please contact the Customer Services team. Your Membership Agreement does not affect your statutory rights to return an item. Returned items will not count towards your Membership Agreement.

Multi Book Orders
You may order as many books as you wish, but we may limit the number we despatch at any one time. For large orders, or where there is a balance outstanding on your account, we may ask for a payment before despatching the books.

Charges
We reserve the right to charge an administration fee for cheques returned unpaid by your bank or refused credit card payments. Charges will be applied to your account in the case of late payments. If your unpaid account is sent to a third party for collection, further charges will be added to any amount outstanding on your account.

Your Data
Your club is registered under the Data Protection Act (Reg. No. Z6100513). We use your information, including shopping patterns, for marketing purposes and to administer your account. We share your details with our third-party service providers (including couriers, mailing houses and debt collectors). We may monitor and record telephone calls in order to ensure our service to you is of the highest standard. Adverse account details may affect your ability to obtain credit. If you do not wish to receive telephone calls from us for marketing purposes, or marketing material from us or any third parties, please contact Customer Services.

How much is postage and packing?
Postage and packing is charged at a flat rate of Ł3.39 no matter how many books you order. For the Books for Children club the rate is Ł2.99. We reserve the right to vary these rates. The current rate at any time is shown in your club magazine.

How do I return an item?
Items can be returned via the Post Office. Alternatively we offer a convenient Home Collection Service. To take advantage of this service, simply call 0844 499 0000 to arrange this. The charge for this service is just Ł3.00 per collection. In all cases, please ensure your membership details or delivery note are enclosed in the parcel and that you obtain a receipt of posting. We will add a handling charge for items returned if the postage is unpaid.

How to contact us & make payments

Online: Log onto http://www.booksdirect.co.uk/ to place an order, make a payment or check the status on your account. Just follow the simple instructions.

Home Banking: If you prefer telephone or internet banking, simply contact your bank quoting our account details and your membership number. The name of our account is BCA Telebanking; our sort code is 62-28-53; and our account number is 0000 0000.

By phone: Call 0844 499 0000 and select option 1 to place your order. Select option 2 to make a payment or select option 0 to speak to a Customer Services Adviser.
