Having ordered 2 televisions on Monday and given the office as my "deliver to" address as both my wife and I work full time I eagerly awaited delivery as checking my order status the following day I saw that the goods were despatched. I had a telephone call Tuesday afternoon to say that their courier would not deliver to my office address even though we are on a public industrial estate nearby to Stansted Airport. I queried the reason why and the Tesco direct person said that they would check the reason why and ring me back. Nothing was heard until another call was received on Thursday repeating the conversation of Tuesday. I explained that every other courier can deliver to my office and do so daily. They would not be moved but helpfully offered to deliver to my home address on Saturday. My wife and I waited in all day but no delivery was received. On Monday morning I called Tesco Direct and cancelled the order as Saturday was wasted. The Tesco Direct person apologised and confirmed the cancellation. I ordered 2 more televisions from ebuyer who i know have no such delivery problems. When my wife arrived home from work she found a card on the mat stating that a delivery had been made 6 doors away from our house. My wife went to this address to find that the televisions had been delivered to a disabled old lady. My wife apologised for the inconvenience and had to lug both televsions back to our house after which she rang me at work. I immediately telephoned Tesco Direct who said that they would arrange collection but could only collect Monday to Friday during working hours. I explained that they would have to collect the following Saturday meaning us stuck in again waiting for a van that may or may not arrive! I was then told that collection could not be made on Saturday but that we should lug the televisions back to the disabled old lady for their courier to collect. As we have never spoken to this woman before and given her circumstances we said that we could not agree to this. Tesco Direct then told me that their courier would call at our address during working hours a number of times and if the goods were not given to the courier then we would have to pay for them in full. I asked to speak to a supervisor and was left waiting on a dead line for 25 minutes until the original person came back on the line to say that there were no alterenative options and that her supervisor was too busy to talk to me. I insisted upon speaking with a supervisor and was told that somebody would call me. Sure enough about half an hour later a "smart alec" type rang me to say that Tesco Direct were acting completely in line with their terms and conditions that I was deemed to have read and understood prior to placing my order. I was told that it clearly states that Tesco Direct will not deliver to a business under any circumstances. Both I and my colleagues have scoured the Tesco Direct website but have failed to find this clearly displayed anywhere! Anyway my "smart alec" friend is going to telephone me tomorrow to tell me whether he can arrange for Home Delivery Service (their couriers) to collect from us on Saturday. Although they deliver on Saturday (supposedly) apparently THEY CANNOT COLLECT. I have so far wasted all day Saturday and spent an hour and a half on the telephone today and as far as Tesco Direct are concerned it's all my fault. I have no doubt that ebuyer will deliver my televisions tomorrow and I can tell everyone now that I will never ever place an order with Tesco Direct again. If they want to compete with the other internet delivery companies then they have not got a hope. Useless!!!!!!!!!

I have ordered many electrical items from several lesser known companies online and have thoroughly reccommended them all. However when it comes to Tesco's (that I assumed would be of a similar high standard) I have been extremely disappointed! Their Customer Service fail to return calls and emails and even though they are polite when you get through on the phone they are very poor at carrying out any actions. I have reported the non-receipt of my order 4 times now and have in the last call tryed to cancel it, their operator now tells me I cant cancel the order until they have investigated this and they have 28 days by law to do this. (Check the small print - it's there). So even though my credit card has been charged for the full ammount I am unlikely to see amy of the money back for at least another month!! So be warned - it's no suprise that Tesco's makes such high profits is it? - take my advise and stick to the smaller lesser know stores ... the service I have received from them has been 200% better.
