I upgraded from 512kps to 1mb in August (or so I thought!), but then found I was being charged for broadband and dial-up at the same time (Totalling £34 per month)!!!! When I 'phoned their customer service people, they said that they would cancel the dial-up and refund me the overpayments. Within 24 hours my service stopped altogether!!! Like others, I rang technical support (in India), and the gut read his script then decided it was my PC. I got an engineer in to look at it and he found nothing wrong. Anyway, after several more 'phone calls to customer service over a 6-week period, where lots of 'promises' were made of being called back to help enable my connection again, nothing happened, so I cancelled my account!! They say I still owe 1 month fee, which I'm disputing, and it's taken another 2 weeks for them to clear my line before I can use another ISP. As far as I can tell, if things run smoothly there's no problem, but as soon as things go wrong they're hopeless - I'm glad I escaped and I certainly wouldn't recommend them to anyone else, based purely on 'customer care' only - it's non-existant!!!!!! http://www.theukhighstreet.com/perl/review.cgi?ReviewID=2307 http://www.theukhighstreet.com/perl/review.cgi?ReviewID=2307 Fri, 30 Dec 2005 12:00:00 GMT tiscali con by scraggy I have been with tiscali for nearly 2 years now and have had nothing but trouble from the start. Firstly my modem could just knock off for no reason at all at any time and when i moved houses and telephone lines tiscali told me in broken english i would be reconnected within 15 days and 4 weeks later i am still waiting. but they give me a load of spiel every time i phone up and all the time blaming someone or something else. When i checked with B.T if tiscali had put in a order for broadband connection on my line they confirmed that it had never taken place consequently i have told tiscali to stick there broadband connection where the sun doesnt shine and cancelled my direct debit. It is a shoddy run organisation by people who just equate to being (Jobsworths). i dont think they make money by selling broadband i think they must make it by the high prices you have to pay to speak to their customer services in india. Dont touch them with a barge pole. http://www.theukhighstreet.com/perl/review.cgi?ReviewID=2153 http://www.theukhighstreet.com/perl/review.cgi?ReviewID=2153 Wed, 20 Apr 2005 12:00:00 GMT Tiscali Dont Join Up by vladivar I was with tiscali for 2 years 1st 18 months no probs then the gits decided to cap my so called unlimited broadband. If they had warned me about a cap on usage i could have balanced any downloads and my usage over the month. For the first time i had to contact them thats when the fun starts for starters theres no point in shouting at support staff they can only tell you what they are trained to say. And after countless discusions with support staff there policy is blame everything else and deny all and that sums up tiscali to a T. If you have connection problems the chances are you have been capped once your capped thats it theres no going back. I advice you to bite the bullet and cancel You have to give a months notice and after cut off it can take to to 25 days to free up your line cos the best of all ticali dont support migration and it can be another 5 days to get back onto another isp. The only fun i had with tiscali is after i cancelled tiscali customer support rang up to ask me to spend five minutes with him to take part in a servey to check if there support is working...i said hang on a minute ile brb and the muppet waited for 10 mins before hangin up. http://www.theukhighstreet.com/perl/review.cgi?ReviewID=2152 http://www.theukhighstreet.com/perl/review.cgi?ReviewID=2152 Thu, 14 Apr 2005 12:00:00 GMT tiscali broadband by m11ckx been with tiscali for around 2 years now on broadband for 14 months all has been fine until i once went over 30Gb on month and they gave me 30 days termination of contract they will not discuss anything by phone and will not respond to e-mails they still advertise unlimited downloads but this is clearly not true and they do not support tranfer of service so if you change over you will be off line for ten days. UNLIMITED DOWNLOAD islimited to 30Gb should trading standards get involved? http://www.theukhighstreet.com/perl/review.cgi?ReviewID=2122 http://www.theukhighstreet.com/perl/review.cgi?ReviewID=2122 Tue, 01 Mar 2005 12:00:00 GMT Truly, truly awful by StefZ Does the previous reviewer work for Tiscali perchance? I ask this because he seems to be quoting one of standard Tiscali customer support spiels verbatim. Totally agree with previous negative posts ... - Customer service Indian based. Level of technical knowledge poor. Just waste your time giving contradictory explanations and mucking you around. Lots of stalling. Billing procedures bizarre. Have been received 2kpbs service for last six weeks on a broadband package ... and so on. I'm sitting here waiting for my contract to expire and will have to choke on the resulting downtime when I transfer to another provider. Rotten, rotten company. Basically nothing works properly. It is unreasonable to expect perfect performance from any ISP but the truly awful customer support demonstrates that Tiscali is poorly managed throughout. Why bother when there are better ISPs out there? Avoid like the plague http://www.theukhighstreet.com/perl/review.cgi?ReviewID=2100 http://www.theukhighstreet.com/perl/review.cgi?ReviewID=2100 Mon, 31 Jan 2005 12:00:00 GMT "Wot's all the fuss about?" by Bruce Well i don't know what's wrong with everybody else's connection but mine's fine and always has been, i'm with Tiscali for my phone billing and broadband ISP and i've never had any problems, my phone bil comes every month, nice and uncomplicated unlike BT with discount for friends, discount for family, discount for your best friend, discount for your next door neighbour and discount overseas calls, trouble is it's all wrapped up with carried forward from last bill not including d/debits up to and including the first Monday of the month providing it doesn't clash with bank holidays and leap years etc, etc. I was paying circa 140.00 a quarter, now it's been as little as 15.56 per month. I'm with Tiscali now for broadband and i get online everytime, i think what's needed for everyone is to employ the services of someone who knows what they're doing, a friend of mine (computer systems analysist) set my account up and it's just fine. Bruce http://www.theukhighstreet.com/perl/review.cgi?ReviewID=2071 http://www.theukhighstreet.com/perl/review.cgi?ReviewID=2071 Fri, 07 Jan 2005 12:00:00 GMT Another victim of Tiscali by Werner At first I transferred from Tiscali dial-up to the £19.99 5 x faster service, and I was reasonably happy. Towards the end of my first year's contract some persuasive person phoned from Tiscali to offer me 10 x faster for the same price if I remained with them for another year. In a moment of madness I agreed, and since then the connection has slowed considerably, and emails frequently fail to arrive. I've also received threatening letters regarding payment for the dial-up service that I no longer have. I felt so frustrated with the service that I no longer received that I foolishly tried to cancel the contract, and after numerous letters someone called me and agreed to send me a letter confirming cancellation. However, the letter didn't arrive and after more letters and attempts to contact "customer services" I finally spoke to a very rude person who appeared to take great pleasure in assuring me, in no uncertain terms, that under no circumstances would I be released from the contract until the expiry date in 2005. It looks as though I'm stuck with a very poor service for another 8 months, but I'll certainly be attempting to cancel again at the end of that period. In the meantime, I hope that I can persuade others to avoid tempting offers from this company. http://www.theukhighstreet.com/perl/review.cgi?ReviewID=1975 http://www.theukhighstreet.com/perl/review.cgi?ReviewID=1975 Thu, 28 Oct 2004 12:00:00 GMT NO CONNECTION! NO CUSTOMER SERVICE! by SARAH172H I have had tiscali now for 8 months and in all that time it has only worked in the first month and even then it was a case of 'it' working when 'it' choose to rather than when i wanted it to. Now 7 months on it has gottten worse as each month goes by it wont even connect now and im on my 2nd modem from them and it still makes no difference, but unfortunatly i am tied in to a contract with them for 12 months. i have had sign up with aol as well so then at least i have internet access when i need it but that means im paying for 2 internet providers due to tiscali's incompetence. Cutomer service is none existent, they can hardly speak english and rather than admit that the product that we have been supplied with isnt up to standard they will blame it on your computer not working correctly which by the way is brand new and i have had no problems with until i loaded tiscali onto it. i was with aol before and everything worked fine until i loaded tiscali on my computer, it did not work properly again after that day so i had to reboot my computer and start from scratch again and get rid of any trace of tiscali!. I will strongly advise anyone not to sign on with tiscali. http://www.theukhighstreet.com/perl/review.cgi?ReviewID=1962 http://www.theukhighstreet.com/perl/review.cgi?ReviewID=1962 Fri, 15 Oct 2004 12:00:00 GMT Tiscali broadband by jowana I have been with Tiscali broadband for a nightmare 2 years. there billing department are a total sham! I have now ceased my contract and trying to get my line freed so to take up with a better supplier. They state that the request to release my line has been sent but BT assure me that this is not the case and as normal I have been misinformed. to contact tiscali is one of the hardest things to do and will be fruitless as nothing will change service will still remain c**p http://www.theukhighstreet.com/perl/review.cgi?ReviewID=1925 http://www.theukhighstreet.com/perl/review.cgi?ReviewID=1925 Wed, 18 Aug 2004 12:00:00 GMT Don't touch with a barge pole by Raker My experience with Tisclai was a nightmare for a variety of reasons. Firstly, getting online proved extremely difficult and the Indian technical support was worse than useless. Getting through to anybody at Tiscali takes an extremely long time and the company has never responded to any emails or hand written letters I have sent it. After the internet connection continually failed I cancelled the account, which took an age to do. The firm has now begun to send me threatening letters about money I don't owe. The entire experience has been extremely stressful. I now have a new provider which is fine. http://www.theukhighstreet.com/perl/review.cgi?ReviewID=1910 http://www.theukhighstreet.com/perl/review.cgi?ReviewID=1910 Wed, 04 Aug 2004 12:00:00 GMT
