Fast to take money, but WILL NOT give it back, just occasionally respond saying they have when they haven't. Luckily I paid by Amex, so I got them to step in and recover the money. I will investigate ways to stop them trading. Do not go anywhere near them under any circumstances. http://www.theukhighstreet.com/perl/review.cgi?ReviewID=2625 http://www.theukhighstreet.com/perl/review.cgi?ReviewID=2625 Tue, 09 Jun 2009 12:00:00 GMT Gardening express disasters by sallyrosser Please don't use this company. My most recent order with them was infuriating and tantamount to theft. I placed a large order of £100 and was told it had not gone through, so then spent considerable time redoing it. The order arrived and several of the plants were in bad nick. I couldn't get through to anyone so gave up trying to let them know. The ticket system was baffling. Two months later, I got an e-mail saying my order had been despatched. What they did was to take the money for the unprocessed order from April, but say it hadn't gone through and so effectively took the order twice. (Note I didn't get two e confirmations.) So now I'm stuck with goods I already have, and which I've got no room for. They will not collect the goods and say it is up to me to return them - not cost effective as there are about 12 boxes - so I am left with the dilemma, do I open the boxes and water the plants knowing they will not ever give me my money back if I do, or do I let them perish? Something tells me I'm going to be the one losing out either way. Who on earth has time for this hassle? On the positive note, at least I can replace the plants that died shortly after arriving with me. DO NOT USE. http://www.theukhighstreet.com/perl/review.cgi?ReviewID=2623 http://www.theukhighstreet.com/perl/review.cgi?ReviewID=2623 Mon, 08 Jun 2009 12:00:00 GMT Gardening Express by lowrim How is this company still trading ? Surely trading standards should have stepped in by now !! Have lost over £150 but will not give up chasing them for my money back.. will take them to court if I have to on principle .. worst shopping experience of my life ... will never ever use again .. that's if they are still operating ... they take your money and never send goods and you are unable to contact them !! nightmare !! http://www.theukhighstreet.com/perl/review.cgi?ReviewID=2624 http://www.theukhighstreet.com/perl/review.cgi?ReviewID=2624 Mon, 08 Jun 2009 12:00:00 GMT Don't use Gardening Express by cmaugustine I wish I'd seen these reviews before placing an order for £60.65 on 20th April 2009. Apart from an order acknowledgement I've had no communication from the company despite me raising a "ticket" to ask for the whereabouts of my order. No answer from phone line. No note to explain delay. But my money was taken on the day of my order. I am now disputing the payment through my bank and thinking of reporting these cowboys to Watchdog. Seems as though this is a complete scam and fraud. http://www.theukhighstreet.com/perl/review.cgi?ReviewID=2622 http://www.theukhighstreet.com/perl/review.cgi?ReviewID=2622 Sat, 06 Jun 2009 12:00:00 GMT Worst customer service ever - genuine leather was fake! by flikflak Bought a hand bag online that was described as being genuine leather. After having used it for a week, I discover that it is made of fake leather - I can´t stand cheap fake leather bags! To be absolutely sure, I took it to a leather specialist and let him cut a small hole in the lining so he can see the back side of the "leather" - it is fake leather. I then contact Urban Outfit's customer service online, and explains everything. But they refuse to accept a return because the bag now has been “damaged” with the hole in the lining. I explain again that the bag already had been used for a week so they could not put it up for sale again anyway - they don’t care. I got no excuse or anything else for the mistakes they've made, even though they now have changed the description of the text on their website. I will never buy from Urban Outfit's again! “Owner of a cheap plastic bag” http://www.theukhighstreet.com/perl/review.cgi?ReviewID=2621 http://www.theukhighstreet.com/perl/review.cgi?ReviewID=2621 Tue, 02 Jun 2009 12:00:00 GMT don't use them by prussell I can confirm that this company hasn't improved. My advice is: don't use them!! I ordered some plants on 20th April at a cost of £35 and, three weeks later, haven't received the plants or any explanation. I can't get through to them and am worried that my money is lost. The website says that I must raise a support ticket but it isn't working. The email address for the customer services is defunct. I've left a message on the owner's email but haven't heard anything. I've sent a letter to their registered office. They have a glossy website but take your money and don't deliver. Don't use them! http://www.theukhighstreet.com/perl/review.cgi?ReviewID=2620 http://www.theukhighstreet.com/perl/review.cgi?ReviewID=2620 Wed, 13 May 2009 12:00:00 GMT Thanks 4 nothing! by Lesley-Anne Bay Trading have been in financial difficulty since they published 2008 AGM Report however staff wer not told until it was printed in the sun and certain staff contacted Luton Head Office only 2 be told "We can't answer that" Only 2 days later did those certain staff members start 2 panic about their jobs as it was published that 1800 jobs were to be lost due 2 Company going in2 administration. Finally the following week did staff receive confirmation of financial hardship and the administration of this once loved High Street Brand. Basically, whoever runs Gardening Express has a nice little scam going. They take your money for your order, they pretend that they have shipped the goods and then BAM! You never hear from them, you can't get through on the phones, they don't respond to answerphone messages and they don't reply to emails. Stay well away from these jokers, I wish I had. http://www.theukhighstreet.com/perl/review.cgi?ReviewID=2617 http://www.theukhighstreet.com/perl/review.cgi?ReviewID=2617 Fri, 01 May 2009 12:00:00 GMT Victorian Grand Lodge - well worth it by stobswood We wanted a quality glasshouse in which we could include a partition to have part greenhouse and part conservatory. Looking at three vendors - two national and one local, Hartley Botanic came out top in terms of look and value for money. We visited two reference installations in our area and the materials used - glass, metalwork and even the gaskets used to install the glass were first class. The final stamp of approval was from the people whose Hartley glasshouses we visited who praised both the sales team and their installation teams. We went ahead with our order. The sales process was very smooth with Hartley suggesting we hold off from ordering a complete set of blinds from them as we may not need them all. Even though we had to move the installation date three times due to a combination of bad weather delaying the site preparation and our builder putting the entrance in the retaining base wall in the wrong place (thank heaven I did a final check against the drawings Hartley Botanic provided!) Hartley could not have been more helpful. To help us get back on track they had two installation teams assemble the glasshouse in double quick time and all the guys could not have been more helpful and professional and tidied up so well that we had friends around the same evening to christen the conservatory section and to toast the health of the whole Hartley Botanic team. http://www.theukhighstreet.com/perl/review.cgi?ReviewID=2616 http://www.theukhighstreet.com/perl/review.cgi?ReviewID=2616 Sun, 12 Apr 2009 12:00:00 GMT frustrating and very slow by samson Graham and Green have some fabulous things but beware they don't keep anything in stock and only order from suppliers when you place your order.I placed an order guaranteeing delivery for mother's day and am only contacted 4 days later to be told the part of my order won't be arriving for up to 6 weeks. When i ask about the mothers day item(bought on a mothers day free delivery offer) they are unable to sent it in time even though they have it there, it is now thursday and mothers day is on sunday. The remaining part of my order was supposed to be available early and mid march which it now is.Having to wait another 6 weeks is unacceptable and takes me past my Birthday so will not arrive in time-Hubbie not amused. They have offered me 25% off my next order-useless to me as that won't be happening any time soon! Can't see how they can compete with many other websites which are super efficient and offer next day delivery at a much cheaper rate too. http://www.theukhighstreet.com/perl/review.cgi?ReviewID=2615 http://www.theukhighstreet.com/perl/review.cgi?ReviewID=2615 Thu, 19 Mar 2009 12:00:00 GMT Where are they??? by Derek Order in since Feb 06 2009 but no wool, no communication, can't leave a message answer machine full. I paid for a sofa online 4 months ago, i was initially told it would be dlivered in 14 days, it has still not been delivered 4 moths later. I paid £50 for delivery. My emails are ignored and the customer service people on the phone are very rude and unhelpful. I am doubtfull if i ever receieve my sofa. http://www.theukhighstreet.com/perl/review.cgi?ReviewID=2612 http://www.theukhighstreet.com/perl/review.cgi?ReviewID=2612 Tue, 03 Mar 2009 12:00:00 GMT You are not insured by COPPERPOT Good cheap service until you need to make a claim, then rubbish, unless you are sending a banjo you are not covered, *** be sure all parcels are marked as contents as banjo *** [Edit: Case edited - please do not write a whole review in capitals] http://www.theukhighstreet.com/perl/review.cgi?ReviewID=2610 http://www.theukhighstreet.com/perl/review.cgi?ReviewID=2610 Sun, 22 Feb 2009 12:00:00 GMT nabru large sofabed by sarah1 One of the most uncomfortable nights we've spent. The sofa itself sturdy and solid, but when using the bed, we rolled into the middle and the bar undreneath was hard. The company have offered 70% refund as 1 week past the 2 week comfort refund. Sofabed cost £434 so very disappointed. We now have a sofabed that nobody can sleep on which rather defeats the object. http://www.theukhighstreet.com/perl/review.cgi?ReviewID=2609 http://www.theukhighstreet.com/perl/review.cgi?ReviewID=2609 Mon, 16 Feb 2009 12:00:00 GMT tiscali horror by djmathi I had a tiscali tv, broadband and calls package. It worked well for a few months until I added an extra viewing package. After that I could not get it off on line. Numerous 087 phonecalls later no one was able to get it off my bills! They couldnt for some unknown reason set up my direct debit as well and kept sending me red notices. They confirmed payments which I hadn't made and vice versa. It was a nightmare. My letter of complaint got a response so dull and unhelpful that I felt like sending another letter of complaint about the letter of complaint! Many of the times the customer services reps were heard saying the system is acting up or it is down. Once they were unable to actually take a payment over the phone because their system wasnt working. When things are going ok, you get what you pay for. Broadband speeds were ok for me (no online gaming). Tiscali tv was rather clunky and the remote and the menu system was a nightmare to navigate as it would overshoot frequently. Go for it if you are preapred to put up with a lot of bad service. http://www.theukhighstreet.com/perl/review.cgi?ReviewID=2607 http://www.theukhighstreet.com/perl/review.cgi?ReviewID=2607 Mon, 09 Feb 2009 12:00:00 GMT Poor service by gregmcc Spent nearly £800 on, in my opinion, a poorly made, uncomfortable, badly finished sofa bed. When I complained, they were totally uninterested even though I offered to accept just a 50% refund and return the goods myself. Apalling attitude and unacceptable customer service. Please avoid. http://www.theukhighstreet.com/perl/review.cgi?ReviewID=2606 http://www.theukhighstreet.com/perl/review.cgi?ReviewID=2606 Fri, 06 Feb 2009 12:00:00 GMT My Boden Review by ShopTalk Great value in the sale and easy returns (the returns are free from the UK even though this doesn't seem to be mentioned on the site). The refund could have been faster - it took a couple of weeks but overall a good experience. http://www.theukhighstreet.com/perl/review.cgi?ReviewID=2604 http://www.theukhighstreet.com/perl/review.cgi?ReviewID=2604 Wed, 28 Jan 2009 12:00:00 GMT Cheated by Morrison's supermarket by senajanes Having been a loyal and frequent customer of Morrison's since their store at Seaburn, Sunderland first opened, I'm quite sad that our association has now ended. The staff there were always pleasant and friendly, but of course thats the North East for you. The reason I'm boycoting the store is because I feel cheated and conned out of the £20 Xmas voucher offer. I'd qualified but misunderstood the wording of the scheme and had only kept my 'debit card' till receipt as proof of puchase. The 'rules' just told you to keep the qualifying weeks 'receipts' and didnt make it clear that by 'receipt' they meant the whole itemised lists of the groceries bought (or till roll) as most of us customers would describe it. Its no consolation but I'm not the only one to find themselves cheated in this way, the staff have had to deal with furious customers all week, some of them very abusive. Also my phone call to their 'customer services' dept was an absolute waste of time and money. The young man who eventually answered was possibly a school leaver & clearly completely untrained in customer services. He obviously couldn't have cared less so I've decided to adopt the same attitude. Probably its done me a favour in the long run, I'm still very angry but if my £70 - £80 a week custom means so little to them then I shall spread it around from now on. It isn't a problem for me to buy daily elswhere, there are shops a lot nearer to me than Morrisons and it will probably save me money too because I'll think twice and waste less. http://www.theukhighstreet.com/perl/review.cgi?ReviewID=2586 http://www.theukhighstreet.com/perl/review.cgi?ReviewID=2586 Wed, 00 Dec 0 12:00:00 GMT THIS AWFUL SERVICE by ANDREWS HAVE NOT MANAGED TO GET A POSTCODE YET!! http://www.theukhighstreet.com/perl/review.cgi?ReviewID=2605 http://www.theukhighstreet.com/perl/review.cgi?ReviewID=2605 Wed, 00 Dec 0 12:00:00 GMT Refund Policy by nici018 I recently bought a dress during a lunch break in the weymouth store in Debenhams. I usually NEVER shop in Jane norman and this was a spur of the moment purchase. The dress was reduced to £22.50 from £40 and felt even though I normally hate Jane Norman for this price I could oversee the brand and cut out the label so no one would know which store it was from!! I wish I had never bought it now, it fitted appallingly!! I am a clear size 8 if not a little smaller-this dress would barely do up around my boobs!! I then went to return this to the Cardiff store and was told no refunds on sale items. What a completely rubbish policy! This was not mentioned at all to me during the transaction- had it been I defintely would not have bought it as I didn't have time to try it on. I tried to point out this should be clearly stated if this is such a strict policy and had no help of the girls what so ever! I then sadi fine I will sell it on ebay if they are not going to be helpful- they then continued to shout back at my mother and myself as they didn't like that we were complaining about what is clearly a fault of the stroe for not making it a policy for assistants to mention this to all customers. I also agree with many of the reviews on this site- the attitudes of the sales assitants stink!! I have worked in retail for nearly 10 years. You have customers who argue and are not happy with refund policies-it comes with the job. if you have any sense, you are polite back apologise and merely take in your stride-YOU DO NOT SHOUT BACK AT CUSTOMERS! I shall be taking this up further with Debenhams as I do not feel as a customer I have been informed correctly nor treated with any respect at all. Do not shop at this store- it is cheaply made and only staffed by young girls who should clearly grow up a bit. the power clearly goes to their heads. http://www.theukhighstreet.com/perl/review.cgi?ReviewID=2590 http://www.theukhighstreet.com/perl/review.cgi?ReviewID=2590 Wed, 00 Dec 0 12:00:00 GMT Utterly Useless by rutters Placed an order for a personalised item on 14th November. Received confirmation letter telling us to allow 28 days for delivery and not to bother contacting them with questions (worrying?). Item did not arrive. Phoned upAfter 38 days with no word from them. Spent 20 minutes at 10p per minute listening to messages telling us not to bother them - they'd contact us if there was a problem. Finally spoke to someone. They'd "just found out" the item wouldn't be delivered till February. Seriously inimpressed! http://www.theukhighstreet.com/perl/review.cgi?ReviewID=2589 http://www.theukhighstreet.com/perl/review.cgi?ReviewID=2589 Wed, 00 Dec 0 12:00:00 GMT Shabby Arrogant Service by john1379 Took my daughter to Jane Norman's in the New Cabot Circus in Bristol. My daughter decided to buy a top and proceeded to stand in a queue for the tills for 20 minutes. The item which had been discounted down from £25 to £12.50 if by a miracle was now £25 again, even though the marked price was £12.50. I spoke to a very arrogant girl called Sue on the till and asked her how they can sell goods at well above the marked price. She said that they did not have time to change the prices. I asked for the head office address of JN, which she finally gave me. Very shabby and underhand business ethics at this busy time of year. http://www.theukhighstreet.com/perl/review.cgi?ReviewID=2588 http://www.theukhighstreet.com/perl/review.cgi?ReviewID=2588 Wed, 00 Dec 0 12:00:00 GMT
