It was unfortunately a Jeckyll and Hyde experience for me with this shop. I had been the day before and was helped by a lovely young lady; I walked in This afternoon to quickly show my partner the bracelet I was interested in and was greeted with a stare from who I presume to be a clearly defined overly self important “door man” who was busy chatting away with another member of staff. Needless to say, this did not bother me as you get morons everywhere but then, as we were looking at the bracelet a member of staff deliberately proceeded to turn the one display light off that was over this particular bracelet right? The “doorman” then proceed to actually do some work and started to what looked like fiddle with the shop shutters: I then realised that all this was because I dared enter the shop at 17:45, fifteen minutes before they closed! No longer a problem as we won’t be bothering to spend our money here again! As someone on these reviews also said, there are plenty of other jewellery shops with more reasonably priced products out there👌 Finito.

My wife and I popped into Hugh rice to look at a couple of pieces of jewellery the staff are truly nice people and don't push you into the sale. We dealt with a Guy called Luke who could not be more helpful and could not do enough for us, again he did not push for the sale. I have come across many sales men and he is by far the best! He is an asset to your company.

Had a faulty strap with a watch I'd bought 4 months ago. After a quick chat they happily switched it over.

I made three calls for advice and assistance and each time I found the staff friendly, cheerful and helpful, in particular, Emma. Thanks for a good retail experience!

I walked into this store and received that look that says "why are you bothering to come in here". Regardless, I approached one of the two members of staff who had provided said look, they turned and walked off. Undeterred, I approached the other member of staff and asked to look at replacement watch straps for the watch I was wearing. (Its not a valuable watch by any means but of great sentimental value). I picked a strap I liked only to be advised that the buckle couldn't be changed with the one on my existing strap. Strange since its the same pin mechanism that attaches the buckle to the strap as the strap to the watch and they could fit the strap to the watch. However, as the buckle wouldn't match (gold on a stainless steel watch) I declined. Thankfully, I went straight down the road to Ogdens where I found the same watchstrap and they, without asking, offered to change the buckle. Not a big sale on this occasion but I shall not be returning to or recommending Hugh Rice, try Ogdens instead.

No idea what they're like since moving but the first and last time I did the service when looking for a watch was abysmal. Went elsewhere and stayed with the alternatives. Much better places to shop in Beverley.

My husband wanted a new watch, no idea what make or price. But a lovely young lady called Deborah delt with us. She was brilliant, and very knowledgable. She brought out a wide range for my husband to look at, and talked about each one. On the way out off the shop a watch caught my husbands eye.We went away to think about it over night and went back the next morning.We told Deborah which one, a complete change from what we saw the previous day. She explained all about it. My husband loved it. Bought it. We would like to say thankyou for such a lovely experience. From yourself Deborah and the rest of the staff. 😊

We went to your St. Stephens branch this week to look at Brietling watches. We were dealt with by a delightful and very knowledgeable assistant named Chelsea and part exchanged my husbands Tag watch , previously purchased at Hugh Rice, for a Brietling. There was no 'hard sell' and the transaction was a very pleasant experience.
