1954 The Team Of The Century - A Throstle's Journey - Signed
Merchant: Oxfam
Merchant's Category: Media> Books
Following the success of '1976 - A Promotion Tale And All That', and 'War, Peace and Promotion', this publication follows the story of yet another successful season on the pitch for West Bromwich Albion Football Club. On May 1st 1954, West Bromwich Albion skipper Len Millard raised the FA Cup high at Wembley Stadium after Albion defeated Preston North End 3-2 to bring to an end a most extraordinary campaign which took the Throstles so close to the pinnacle of football achievement - the coveted League and Cup Double'. It proved to be one step too far for Vic Buckingham and his wonderful side that would count the cost of injuries and international selections thwarting the dreams of Albion's followers including the author Laurie Rampling, who sat captivated in front of a flickering Black and white TV set watching the Wembley drama unfold all those years ago. Softback copy that has been signed and dated 'very best wishes' by the author, Laurie Rampling. Illustrated throughout with b/w photographs.
