First published in January 1971, a+u - Architecture & Urbanism - is an architectural magazine in Japanese and English that provides information on architecture around the globe to a global readership. As Japan's only monthly periodical dedicated to disseminating information on architecture around the world, a+u has been widely and actively read by the architecture community since its inaugural issue. The Belgian architect Vincent van Duysen offers tactility as one of his themes. The act of touching is characteristic of his approach as an architect who has designed many interiors and pieces of furniture. He uses many materials including plaster, wood, steel, glass and concrete. The simple, pure proportions and play of light and shadow in his work are born from these materials and from his sensitive handling of details. This issue details some of his work: Concordia Offices in Waregem, a Cascade for Swarovski, VVD Residences in Dendermonde and in Antwerp, and a Private Residence in Antwerp. Also included in this issue of a+u magazine are projects by Aires Mateus, Felipe Assadi+Francisca Pulido Architects, KARO*architekten with Architektur+Netwerk, Arturo Franco Architecture Studio, Manuel Maia Gomes, Rogers Stirk Harbour + Partners, Clement Vergely Architectes, meck architekten, Dorte Mandrup Arkitekter, Carlos Ferrater and Xavier Marti Gali/OAB, Krueck + Sexton Architects. Condition : Very good
