Minnesang ("love song") was a tradition of lyric- and song-writing in Germany and Austria that flourished in the Middle High German period. This period of medieval German literature began in the 12th century and continued into the 14th. These volumes are devoted to the lyric poets of the 12th and 13th century, using editions prepared by Karl Lachmann and others. The 4 volumes (published between 1977 and 1982) are as follows: Vol.1 Text. 37th edition with 1 facsimile. (1982) Vol.2. Editorial Principles, Melodies, Manuscripts, Notes, 36th edition with 4 sheet music examples and 28 facsimiles. (1977) Vol.3. Commentaries, indexed and supplemented by a literature key. Part 1, Investigations by Carl von Kraus, 1939. Part 2, Notes by Karl Lachmann and others, 30th edition, 1950. (1981). Hardback in green cloth. Some wear to covers and edges, but text is tight and clean. Books weigh 2.1 kg.
