Besides winning many national and international awards, Rai has exhibited his works in London, Paris, New York, Hamburg, Prague, Bunkamura museum in Tokyo, Zurich and Sydney etc. In the last eighteen years, Rai has specialized in extensive coverage of India which is where he works primarily. Indira Gandhi - A Living Legacy is Raghu Rai's third book on Indira Gandhi. The first, A Day in the Life of Indira Gandhi was published in 1971 after her victory in Bangladesh. The next one was published in 1985 after her assassination. More than 60 percent of the photographs in this volume have never been published before. These rare and striking images are relevant even in today's political context."
