ITN 50 Years of News' is a beautifully illustrated hardback book which offers a fascinating insight into the past of independent broadcasting. Throughout the book, stills from the ITN and British Pathe News and an easy to follow timeline perfectly illustrate the triumphs and tragedies, short stories and grand events of the past 50 years. ITN 50 Years Of News documents all of the iconic moments in recent history as reported by ITN and caught on camera -from the first man on the moon and the assassination of President Kennedy to the death of Princess Diana.As well as these major scoops and hard-hitting reports, it tells of the light-hearted quirky stories about the weather, people, places and odd happenings around the globe, that have made us smile.Also covered is the history of ITN itself, with a look at the careers of some of the best-known presenters we have grown up watching on our television screens. These include Sir Christopher Chataway, presenter of the very first broadcast on 22nd September 1955; Sir Alastair Burnet whose authoritative commentary we listened to throughout the 70s and 80s; and finally Sir Trevor McDonald, who presented News at Ten throughout the 90s and still presents for ITN today.
