St Brendan The Voyager: In Story And Legend
Merchant: Oxfam
Merchant's Category: Media> Books
"I have compiled this volume of 'Brendaniana, or a miscellaneous collection of 'matters and things' relating to St Brendan, from various sources. . .Cardinal Moran's 'Acta Sti Brendani'. . .and I have translated those texts from the medieval Latin. . .also the famous 'Navigatio', the Latin version of the voyage of St Brendan, which is known as the Brendan legend par excellence - the most widely popular 'Tale of the Sea' in the middle ages" (from author's preface). First published in 1893; this is the 1895 second edition. Includes sepia frontispiece (see image 2). Good condition for age. No highlighting or other notes. Endpapers slightly foxed. Cover has retained fresh colours; one or two small stains on front (see main image) and spine a little discoloured but lettering still clearly visible. Hinge is weak at front, to the extent that some of the front cover has become detached. Hence low price for this very scarce item.
