The Old Nursery Stories - E. Nesbit, Faith Jaques (illus.). Published by Hodder and Stoughton, Hardback with dust jacket, 1975. Originally published in 1908. Edith Nesbit (1858 - 1924) was an English writer and poet, who published her books for children as E. Nesbit. She wrote or collaborated on more than 60 such books, and was a political activist and co-founder of the Fabian Society. This is a very nice small-format hardback, with blue dye along some of the pages edges, and a ribbon bookmark. The nine traditional tales enclosed within these covers include: Cinderella, Puss in Boots and Dick Whittington, amongst others. This would make a nice book for a collector, or gift copy. Condition: Book: Very good. The pages are clean and tightly bound. Dust jacket: Good. It is in reasonable condition, with a few small marks where the colour is scratched a little, and there is what looks like a greasy mark on the back. Nevertheless the blue hard cover underneath has been very well protected.
