"The World of Titian" contains various works by the renaissance painter, including his most famous paintings like the 'Venus of Urbino' that are printed on high-quality, unyellowed glossy colour plates. The book is one of the 28 volume Time-Life library of art series in first edition. The author Jay Williams has published historical novels. On slipcase Titian's magnificent portrait of a lady at the court of Urbino, which is reproduced in full on page 97. End papers picture 16th and 17th century engravings on Venetian themes - an acrobat tightrope-walking over the Piazzo San Marco, and a flotilla of gondolas in a lagoon. Hardcover. Good condition book with slipcase. Gilt title on spine & cover. Pages free from inscriptions or markings. Slipcase has some minor wear. Leather spine and boards in good to very good condition. 192 pages.
