At the end of March I renewed a hosting agreement with EasySpace UK, for which I paid using my HSBC Visa card. The payment was for service between 20 May, 2005 and 19 May, 2006. Almost immediately the existing service started to go wrong. After 4 days and many email messages (all of which went unanswered) I relocated the web site and told EasySpace that I would not require any service from them after the existing contract expired, and requested a refund of the renewal I had just paid.
Repeated email and fax messages reiterating my request for a refund went unanswered. Not to worry I thought I will contact HSBC, explain the situation, and the transaction will be cancelled. Three weeks, 4 messages and one phone call later HSBC has done nothing.
To make matters worse I have received notification from EasySpace that they "intend to introduce automatic renewals" and "will store your credit card details and take payment automatically". Of course I immediately visited their web site with the intention of cancelling the existing service so that they could be in no doubt that they had no authority to make any charges on my credit card. But it is impossible to cancel anything. The "Cancel/Renew Services" link leads to a page that only allows services to be renewed. So I am now locked into a "service" which EasySpace refuse to cancel and, without any authorization from me, will charge my card each year. How is this company allowed to operate in the UK and how do they get a merchant account?
Easyspace, holding domain names to ransom

My site had been 'down' for five days at the time of writing this review and I've had no response to my support query except for the useless automated one.
I'm losing visitors and sales, adverts are going to press with a useless web site address in them all thanks to Easyspace.
Easyspace (under Iomart) are the worst outfit I've ever had the misfortune to deal with, the new 'control panel' has a fraction of the functionality of the previous one and some of it doesn't seem to work at all. The UI is actually a masterpiece of unintuitive, user hostile design. Their support would seem to be non-existent.
But worst of all they have changed the terms and conditions AFTER I bought domain names and now want £50 + VAT to transfer domain names elsewhere, that's effectively holding peoples domain names to ransom, the service is so poor people have no choice but to move and give in to Easyspaces blackmail.
Easyspace (under Iomart) is a vile organisation which operates in a morally corrupt manner.
I urge those with similar views to take a look at my Easyspace page and link to it, I'll return the favour.

My company has been an Easyspace reseller for a few years, and until they were taken over recently we enjoyed the benefits of being a reseller - slightly cheaper costs, a few free services, and - most importantly - a 24 hour response time for email support enquiries. However, since the take-over, the imposition of the new online "help" system and the removal of the old email support system we basically get zero response. We have had support enquiries open for weeks with no reply. We moved our hosting away from them months ago just using them as a registrar, but with the availability of lower cost ISPs out there with all the same features you have to really question your decision to use this company.
Avoid This Company

I've been an Easyspace customer for several years, always been pretty expensive, but now their customer service is appalling and their charges are beyond a joke. DO NOT EVEN CONSIDER THEM.

I have been with Easyspace for several years now and had no complaints. Recently the company was taken over by IOMART and everything changed. The management console and the packages on offer have all been changed as have the conditions of service.
Making these changes without customer consent is illegal and I encourage everyone affected to contact Trading Standards. An email to Watchdog will also help as they tend to pick up on companies receiving a lot of complaints.
If you must leave and don't want to fight then contact Nominet, who I believe only charge £15.00 for this service. Nominet are the main registrant for .co.uk domains and I am sure they would be interested in the £49.00 + VAT being charged by Easyspace. If anyone knows the legality of charging for .com domains then a posting on this site would be welcome for all concerned.

They charge high extra fees for basic services, they lost one of my accounts, they don't respond to complaints, they charge £50+VAT to allow domain transfer away from them, I suggest you stay clear of this bad company.

The worst ISP I have ever dealt with - even worse than BT.
control panel does nor work properly, support is only via email at first, and then they tell you to ring them, and the number does not work!
Just trying to find out how to get support takes about 1/2 an hour.
Bloody terrible.

I have been a customer of easyspace now for at least 3 years if not about 5 years. In all this time they have hardly updated the services offered, the control panel has remained unchanged until very recently and the hosting costs have steadily increased. there is now a plethora of cheaper services available, and they do not seem to have caught on to the fact that trapping existing customers in will not make them popular.
The support system is virtually unuseable and the lack of any kind contact details makes them one of the worst hosting companies on the net.
I still have several domains registered and hosted with easyspace which I will be removing as soon as possible. I also have several friends and colleagues who are using their services, whose domains and websites I registered and host with easyspace. I will be urging every single one of these to transfer away from their services as a direct result of these draconian price changes.
I am disgusted by their professional attitude to their customers and will be glad to be relieved of their services.
Stay clear of this appalling company
Support - terrible
Prices - on the rise
Services - limited
Hidden Charges - everywhere
Upgraded - just about now after 5 years

Average costs for domain names, however their domain control features are expensive and free with other registrars like freeparking.co.uk.
Customer service is very very slow and has the 'cannot be bothered' feel to the responses.
After not being satisfied by their service I decided to move away only to be stung by their £25 +VAT IPStag .uk domain transfer costs.
Initally you may believe that you will save some money by using them, but in the long run you will be charged a lot more then most other companies. I strongly recommend that you avoid this company at all costs.
