[quotation-marks not included] to the titles, of all of the "Classical" & "World", L.P.s & C.D.s that I list, that consist of predominately, sounds from : guitars ; and/or lutes ; and/or regional stringed instruments that are strummed or finger-picked [for quick reference for the browser]) A compact disc package, that was early (1992) in the series that has been released by the Czechoslovakian-born (1958) guitarist, Michal Hromek. Hromek studied at various, creative institutions in Iron Curtain-era Prague, in the Late-Seventies and Early-Eighties. "U Lva a Jednorozce (Beyond the Lion and the Unicorn)" was recorded and mixed in Prague, and features an intriguing mix, of European, Irish and English, covers. As usual with Hromek, there is a mixture of European Baroque, Renaissance and Folk styles in the music - as the list of musicians in the accompanying booklet, reveals ... 1)-4) Dances from Old Narnia, pt.I. 5)-8) Irish Suite after O Carolan. 9)-11) Three English Ballads. 12),13) Dances from Old Narnia, pt.II. 14) Pavan II. The afore-mentioned, 8-page booklet (sample Photo Two), contains : Front Cover painting, by X. Hoffmeisterova 1992 ; Four examples of lovely, page-sized, mono, contemporary landscape photography by H. Rysova (sadly, no locations given - could be anywhere, between Ireland & Eastern Europe!) ; Full-Colour centre-fold, showing exactly which musicians contributed to each track ; Small dedication list (to six, very-well-known, British authors!). The CD is in EX- condition. (no barcode [E.A.N.] with this CD)
