This French, quadruple-compact disc product - originally offered to the lucky listener in the Late Noughties, on the desirable, "Sony" label -, contains a fascinating choice of ten composers, all of them, either : French-born & bred ; Or, they made France their home ... as well as this mouth-watering collection, there are also five wondrous conductors, in action! The composers, are : Darius Milhaud (1892-1974) ; Jacques Ibert (1890-1962) ; Charles Koechlin (1867-1950) ; Paul Dukas (1865-1935) ; Camille Saint-Saens (1835-1921, perhaps the best-known gentleman, of this lovely collection) ; Vincent D'Indy (1851-1931) ; Florent Schmitt (1870-1958) ; Albert Roussel (1869-1937) ; Emmanuel Chabrier (1841-94) ; and, last-but-not-least, Arthur Honegger (1892-1955). The cover opens into a 12-page, EX- condition, mono - except for the Outside Covers - booklet (sample Photo Two) containing : Front-Cover still, obviously some significant characters from the French classical scene, but, being no past-master in the French language, I don't know who they are (and, neither is it made clear within the booklet itself)! ; Tracklisting with movement-timings ; Performance-credits, but neither recording-credits, nor composition-, nor recording-dates ; A four-page essay by J.J. Velly, in the French language. All four CDs are in EX condition.
