A collectable MONO double-L.P. release from the 1950s, via the desirable, "Nixa Red" series. "Monuments of Baroque Organ Music" features the renowned, German soloist, Dr. Walter Supper (1908-84), performing works by no less than EIGHT composers - ranging from the world famous (J.S. Bach & Pachelbel), to slightly less well known (Buxtehude & Bruhns) to some composers who probably, deserve better contemporary attention (Sweelinck, Steigleder, Walther & Simon) -, all played by Supper, on various 18C German models (see below tracklisting). Side One :- Variations on "Mein junges Leben hat ein End", by Jan Pieters Sweelinck (1562-1621). Side Two :- 1) Prelude & Fugue in B flat, by Johann Kaspar Simon (unknown dates). 2) Fantasia in G minor, by Johann Pachelbel (1653-1706). 3) Prelude & Fugue No.3 in E minor, by Nicolaus Bruhns (1665-97). 4) Chorale, "Allein Gott in der hoh' sei ehr" (trad). Side Three :- 1) Parfita on the Chorale, "Jesu, Meine Freude", by Johann Gottfried Walther (1684-1748). 2) Toccata & Fugue No.21 in F major, by Dietrich Buxtehude (1637-1707). Side Four :- 1) Fantasia in A minor, by Johann Sebastian Bach (1685-1750). 2) Ricercare No.12 in C major, by Johann Ulrich Steigleder (1593-1635). 3) Parfita on the Chorale, "Was Gott Tut, Das Ist Wohlgetan", by Pachelbel. Photos Two & Three : Sides One & Four. Gatefold contains : (Photo Four, L.H.S.) Two columns of fairly-detailed information, concerning the models of Baroque Organs used in these recordings and their builders, by H.
