This collectable, triple-compact disc package was released in the Early-Tennies, on the "First Hand"-label. It features no-less-than, Volume One of the "1956 Nixa-Westminster Stereo Recordings", where the performers are the legendary, London Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by the late, great Sir Adrian Boult (1889-1983). It is fitting, that the majority of the composers featured in these lovely recordings are British, as Cheshire-born Boult, was known for his enthusiastic championing of home-grown talent ... Disc One :- 1)-4) Symphony No.1 in B flat minor, by Walton (43mins). 5)-10) "Falstaff" Symphonic Study in C minor Op.68, by Elgar (34mins). Disc Two :- 1)-4) Symphony No.2 in E flat minor Op.63, by Elgar (52mins). 5) Cockaigne "In London Town" Overture Op.40, by Elgar (14mins). 6)-10) Soirees Musicales Op.9, by Rossini arr. Britten (10mins). Disc Three :- 1)-21) "Young Person's guide to the Orchestra" Op.34, by Britten (20mins ; MONO). 22)-26) Matinees Musicales Op.24, by Rossini arr. Britten (13mins). 27)-31) "Four Sea Interludes" Op.33a, + "Passacaglia" Op.33b, by Britten (24mins). 32) "Young Person's guide to the Orchestra" Op.34, by Britten (19mins ; STEREO). The VG- condition, card-outer, opens into a four-fold containing, Inner (Photo Two) : Clean holders for the booklet and the three discs. Outer (Photo Three, l-r) : Still of Boult with producer K.
