Rather austerely presented, but a richly written account particularly as regards the academic personalities featured. The author was acknowledged as 'an accomplished belle-lettrist, a distinguished literary biographer, a widely published poet, a bon vivant, raconteur, and teacher-scholar who served Cornell all of his adult life'.
