A Midsommer Nights Dreame (rare, One Of Harrap's Elizabethan Shakespeare Series)
Merchant: Oxfam
Merchant's Category: Media> Books
This is a reprint of the First Folio version of Shakespeare's well-loved play, and comes with an introduction and notes by William Henry Hudson, described as 'Lecturer to the University Extension Board of the University of London'. It is the 5th of a series which already included 'The Merchant of Venice', 'Love's Labours Lost', The Tragedie of Julius Caesar' and 'The Winter's Tale'. William Shakespeare (1564-1616) was an English playwright, poet and actor, widely regarded as the greatest writer in the English language and the world's pre-eminent dramatist. He is often called England's national poet and the "Bard of Avon" (or simply "the Bard"). His extant works, including collaborations, consist of some 39 plays, 154 sonnets, three long narrative poems, and a few other verses, some of uncertain authorship. His plays have been translated into every major living language and are performed more often than those of any other playwright. Shakespeare remains arguably the most influential writer in the English language, and his works continue to be studied and reinterpreted. Our little book is in good general condition, considering its age, the red cloth covers rather 'tired' and a little grubby, but without any serious signs of wear or use apart from lightly bumped corners and some minimal shelfwear to top & tail of the spine. Title in black lettering on front and spine. Inside, the binding is firm with no loose pages; pages almost all clean and bright - just a few neatly pencilled annotations on pp.16-20.
