A Present For An Apprentice; Or, A Sure Guide To Gain Both Esteem And Estate
Merchant: Oxfam
Merchant's Category: Media> Books
Remainder of title: "with rules for his conduct to his master and in the world". A little book, attributed by the British Library to Sir John Barnard (1685-1764), containing advice to apprentices. This edition, which is undated but looks 19th century, has various extracts from other works added at the end. A copy of this little book was, apparently, frequently given to an apprentice when he was taken on. It says on the page before the half-title that this copy was a gift of the Worshipful Company of Vintners (whose arms are shown on the front cover), but the top of the page, presumably containing the name of the apprentice, has been cut away. This particular edition does not appear to be listed in any reference source.
