A Time Of War: Air Force Diaries And Pentagon Memos, 1943-45
Merchant: Oxfam
Merchant's Category: Media> Books
During World War II Major James Gould Cozzens served in the Office of Information Services at US Air Force HQ, the Pentagon Building, Washington. In addition to writing speeches and reports for Commanding General Hap Arnold, he daily prepared confidential memos based on the daily activity reports and the Top Secret In and Out Log. The book publishes his private diaries that record the complexity of the war. (His Pulitzer Prize winning novel Guard of Honour about the Air Force is widely regarded as the best American novel about the war.) Hardback with blue cloth boards and an unclipped dust jacker, protected by a Mylar sleeve - spine and corners showing mild wear. The book is signed by the editor, Matthew J. Bruccoli, and it appears to be a presentation copy for Derek Robinson, the author of Damned Good Show. A note to Robinson from Bruccoli is laid in. There are some marks and annotations on text pages, and some notes on the rear endpaper and inside board.
