WW2 Thornton Navigator Dividers Drawing Compass with an Air ministry crown logo dated 1943. The silver metal compass is in the original wooden slide -topped case the sliding lid is also stamped with the Air Ministry logo and the date "1943" and comes with a small canister containing a number of sty-li. The condition is very good. The box has Roman numerals written one end of the case which may indicate the squadron number LXXV1 (76) In 1943 No.76 Squadron flying Handley Page Halifax bombers was flying out of RAF Linton-on-Ouse, moving in June 1943 to RAF Holme -on-Spalding Moor. From August 1942 to April 1943 No.76 Squadron was commanded by Wing Commander Leonard Cheshire.
