With tuned engines using different camshaft profiles and often twin sidedraught carburettors, the standard distributor unit becomes unsuitable, providing an ignition curve which no longer matches the engine. The result is a loss of performance and Drivability.Aldon performance distributors are based on new Lucas or Bosch units and have been dyno developed to provide the correct ignition advance curve to suit different states of engine tune. Most versions are available with an option of having a mechanical advance for engines using twin sidedraught carburettors. All distributors can be fitted with the original style contact breaker (points) system but it is recommended that an electronic ignition system such as the Aldon Ignitor is used to gain the full benefits.APPLICATIONSBMC 'A' SERIES APPLICATIONS 100AY - A non-vacuum distributor, to suit most tuned engines, using camshafts such as Piper 270/285, Kent 266/276 and 286.100AYV - A distributor with the same characteristics as the 100AY but fitted with a vacuum advance. (As a general rule comp. ratios over 10:1 use 100AY). 100AYS - Identical to the 100AY but fitted with a distributor cap which has the H.T. leads coming out of the side instead of the top. Necessary for Sprite/ Midget applications.100AYSV- Identical to the 100AYV but fitted with a distributor cap which has theH.T. leads coming out of the side instead of the top.100AYP - Uses the same advance characteristics as 100AY but has the later type drive dog to suit 'A' plus blocks in the metro.100AR - A non-vacuum distributor, to suit rally and race tuned engines, running on 649, sprint or supersprint type camshafts. Also available for Piper 300/320 or Kent 296/310 type camshafts.100ARS - Identical to the 100AR but fitted with a distributor cap which has theH.T. leads coming out of the side instead of the top.100ARP- Uses the same advance characteristics as 100AR but has the later type drive dog to suit 'A' plus blocks in the metro. BMC 'B' SERIES APPLICATIONS 101BY1 - A distributor with vacuum advance, designed to replace the originaldistributor on std. MGB's and Marina TC's, fitted with HS4 SU Carburettors. N.B. Later versions of these cars have the vacuum advance pipe connected to the inlet manifold not the carburettor, use 101BY2 for these applications.101BY1S - Identical to the 101BY1 but fitted with a distributor cap which has theH.T. leads coming out of the side instead of the top. Necessary for a few pre-rubber MGB's, where H.T.leads may foul on the steering column.101BY2 - A distributor with vacuum advance to suit std. MGB's and Marina TC'swhen fitted with HIF4 SU carburettors. Improves driveability, while retaining the resistance to 'run-on'.101BR1 - A non-vacuum distributor to suit tuned 'B' series using camshafts such as 714,715, Piper 270,285 and fitted with a side draught carburettor.101BR1S - Identical to the 101BR1 but fitted with a distributor cap which has the H.T. leads coming out of the side instead of the top.101BR2 - A vacuum advance distributor to suit road tuned 'B' series, using 714, 864, Piper 270,285 camshafts but retaining the SU carburettors. FORD X/FLOW AND TWIN CAM (ALL LUCAS BASED)103FX1 - A non-vacuum distributor, to suit X/Flow engines, fitted with side draught carburettors but which retain the standard 'GT' camshaft.103FXY - A non-vacuum distributor, which suits most tuned X/Flow engines usingcamshafts such as A2, BCF1, Piper 270,285, Kent 234,244 in conjunction with side draught carburettors. N.B. A vacuum unit must not be used when an engine is fitted with side draught carburettors.103FXYV - On some X/Flow engines with a twin choke down draught carburettor it may be possible to have a vacuum fitted.103FXYS - Identical to the 100FXY but fitted with a distributor cap which has the H.T. leads coming out of the side instead of the top. This is normally necessary when a pair of side draught carburettors are fitted to 1100 and 1300 engines. However we cannot guarantee fitment if the block has be skimmed to a great extent. 103FXYSI - Identical to the 100FXYS but fitted with an Aldon Ignitor electronic ignition system instead of points.103FXR - A distributor for race specification X/Flow's. Full details of the engine specification are required.103FXRS - Identical to the 100FXR but fitted with a distributor cap which has the H.T. leads coming out of the side instead of the top. 103TC - A non-vacuum distributor which suits most twin cam engines from standard to virtually full race. FORD OHC (PINTO) ALL BOSCH UNITS104FPY - A non-vacuum distributor to suit engines fitted with side draught carburettors but retaining the standard camshaft.104FPR1 - A non-vacuum distributor to suit engines fitted with side draught carburettors and fitted with a modified camshaft such as piper 270, 285, Kent RL1, RL2, Burton 32, 33 or 40, 41 etc.104FPR2 - A distributor with vacuum advance to suit engines fitted with twin chokedown draught carburettors together with a modified camshaft. FORD V6 (ESSEX TYPE) 105FV1 - A non-vacuum distributor to suit most tuned V6 engines fitted with a modified camshaft such as Piper 270, 285, Kent V62/ V65.105FV2 - A vacuum version of the 105FV1 distributor which is more suitable when using a Holley carburettor or whenever the standard carburettor is used together with the standard or mild camshaft.N.B. In both the 105FV1 and 105FV2 supply difficulties can result in the unit being either Motorcraft or Bosch. You may need to specify a Motorcraft unit for clearance if using a Holley carburettor. CHRYSLER/ TALBOT 109TY - A non-vacuum distributor to suit 1600 engines using side draught carburettor(s) with a Ti or Group 1 camshaft. Also available for Piper 270, 285, Kent AVFR2-AVFR3. TRIUMPH ENGINES 106TY1 - A non-vacuum distributor to suit tuned 1300/ 1500 engines fitted with side draught carburettor(s) and a modified Piper 270, 285, Kent TH3, TH5 camshaft. If S.U. carburettors are used with a fairly mild camshaft than it may be preferable to use the 106TY2 distributor106TY2 - A vacuum advance version of the 106TY1 distributor for use with S.U.carburettors and fairly mild camshafts. N.B. As these engines are prone to detornation when the compression ratio is raised, it may be found necessary to revert to 106TY1.
