IgE vs IgG; allergy vs food intolerance This test measures IgE antibodies for allergy and IgG4 antibodies for food intolerance. Allergy is an immune system reaction, and food intolerance is a gastrointestinal reaction. This means that you can be allergic to a food item, without having a food intolerance reaction or vice versa. Detection is accomplished by measuring the activity of the reporter enzyme via incubation with a suitable substrate to produce a measurable product.
