Once fully charged, registered and activated via the Tech-Air app, the system is ready to use. Simply zip up the vest and close the magnetic flap and then the LED display indicates the airbag s operational status. The integrated lithium ion battery will give approximately 30 hours of riding time from a full 5-hour charge. A quick 1-hour charge will give an approximate 7-8 hours of riding time. The system comes equipped with a magnetic micro USB charger that allows quick, easy and convenient recharging, ideal for when you are on the go.The Alpinestars Tech-Air 5 Motorcycle Airbag System offers high quality upper body protection. One way that this has been achieved is keeping motorcycle riders safe by uniquely covering the rider's shoulders, chest, ribs and full back. Shoulder protection is critical in a road impact, so Alpinestars have ensures that they are uniquely protected by Tech-Air, effectively and efficiently minimising the risk of the rider sustaining shoulder and collarbone injuries.The Alpinestars Tech-Air 5 Motorcycle Airbag System comes with an active electronic system that features six integrated sensors (3 gyroscopes and 3 accelerometers) and a crash algorithm that leverages AI to accurately monitor when to deploy the airbag in the event of a crash. This system has been developed from years of research with over 50% of the world s top MotoGP riders as well as data from Alpinestars customers, riding data from millions of kilometres and thousands of crashes, have been analysed to continuously improve the intelligent crash detection algorithm. When the active electronic system identifies a crash situation, a protective airbag is deployed, providing protection to the rider with a maximum inflation time of 20 to 40ms based on the volume of the airbag size. The impact absorption while wearing the airbag results in a decrease of the impact force by up to 95% compared to a passive protector. The Tech-Air 5 Airbag System offers the same protection as that provided by 18 CE Level 1 back protectors, as verified by SGS, an Official CE Certification company, that provides independent testing of product conformity with European Personal Protection Regulations.The Tech-Air 5 uses Bluetooth connectivity to seamlessly connect to the Tech-Air app. From within the app you can perform the initial registration and activation of the vest, check the system s operational status, battery status and analysis of your ride that even includes plotting your route on a map. The app can also be used to update the system s firmware when improved crash-detection algorithms are released. The latest software release from Alpinestars now offers a new Race Riding mode. In addition to motorcyclists being able to ride protected during their daily commute, with this new feature riders can now switch to RACE Riding Mode and ride on closed-course racetracks. The newly released Tech-Air App functionality allows riders to easily switch between STREET and RACE Riding Modes. The Tech-Air RACE Riding Mode is developed for the riding conditions associated with the racetrack and the riding style typically found at the racing circuit. The STREET Riding Mode is for street riding conditions where motorcyclists frequently stop at traffic lights and intersections. To ensure that you have the correct coverage for your specific riding mode, always set STREET riding mode for street riding and only use RACE Riding Mode for closed-course racetrack riding.IMPORTANT INFORMATION:Wearing the System is not a substitute for wearing other protective motorcycling clothing and gear. To provide full potential protection, the System must always be worn in conjunction with suitable motorcycling gear and apparel that covers the rider from head to toe, including a helmet, protectors, boots, gloves, and other appropriate protective equipment.The Tech-Air 5 System must not be used by persons with a history of heart problems, or other diseases, conditions, afflictions or illnesses which may weaken the heart.Any body piercings which coincide with the airbag coverage area should be removed before electing to use the System, as inflation of the airbag into and against the body piercings may cause discomfort and/or injury. The Tech-Air 5 System must not be used by persons with neck or back problems.The Tech-Air 5 System must not be used by women during pregnancy.The Tech-Air 5 System must not be used by women with artificial breast implants.The Tech-Air 5 System must not be used by persons fitted with a pacemaker or other implanted electronic medical devices.If the speed of the vehicle is less than 25km/h (15 mph), the System may not deploy at the time of the collision/crash but may deploy if the rider or passenger suddenly falls from the motorcycle after the impact.Alpinestars recommends that the system be routinely serviced at least every 2 years or after 500 hours of functioning.Please Note - ALWAYS turn the System off by opening the Velcro front flap when you are not riding a motorcycle, even if you continue to wear the system. Although the system has been evaluated for a number of non-riding activities, keeping the System turned on and/or active increases the possibility of an unwanted deployment and drains the battery. When not in use and being stored, transported or shipped, the System must be turned off by leaving the Velcro front flap open. This prevents system to accidentally turning on and inadvertently deploying and will also preserve battery and battery life.The Tech-Air 5 System is an active safety protection system that is different from normal motorcycle clothing and as a result requires additional care and precautions.
