Hardback first edition with dustjacket in very good condition, there are two half centimetre tears on the bottom of the dustjacket otherwise in perfect condition. The Scottish Record Society publishes one book per annum, this is a rare find and was published in 2020. To counter the perceived imbalance of Jacobite propaganda in Edinburgh in the period 1745-46 two Whig gentlemen compiled the Impartial and Genuine List, a series of names of mostly young and unmarried ladies. It casts an unusual and personal light on the inhabitants of Edinburgh, particularly the women, and illuminates their society in a way not seen in many contemporary accounts. The original document is reproduced in full together with its transcription and biographical details.
