An Inventory of the Historical Monuments in The City of Oxford: Royal Commission On Historical Monuments, England (1949) - Published by Her Majesty's Stationary Office This 1949 hardcover book is in very good condition. There is a previous owner's name in black ink on the book's first blank page (see photo). There are no other internal markings or annotations. The text pages of this book are clean and clear. They are free from marks and blemishes and there is no evidence of internal foxing. There are a number of glossy photograph pages throughout, all of which are in near fine condition. In addition to this, there are pull out maps of a number of colleges. These are all in remarkable condition. They are free from tears and fold up neatly. There is a large map of Oxford detailing the placement of all of the monuments mentioned. This sits in a pocket inside the book's back cover. This map is in near fine condition, as if it had never been unfolded. The page edges have become a little discoloured with age and handing. The page tops are affected by some light foxing (please see photograph). This foxing has not crept inwards. The pages sit together very well. Externally, both of the covers are intact and in very good condition. Their edges are straight and their corners square. The spine is bumped at both ends with the cover material rounding over/under slightly (please see photograph). This is a used book in very good condition. The text, all images and maps are clear and well preserved. The exterior shows only mild signs of wear. A fascinating piece.
