Ancestral Houses Of Rutland By A.r. Traylen
Merchant: Oxfam
Merchant's Category: Media> Books
Vol. 18 in Rutland Series. Rutland contains a number of houses in the handsome Italian Style of the 17th century; South Luffenham Hall, Lyndon Hall and the now demolished Tickencote Hall. Tradition would state that the latter was designed by Sir Reginald Vanbrugh. No evidence for this has yet been traced, and it is a very modest house compared with Vanbrugh's normal grandiose work. This is a scholarly and comprehensive guide to the history of these beautiful buildings and estates and the fascinating lives of those who lives and worked in them. 2005 paperback in lovely condition.
