Archilab: New Experiments in Architecture, 1950-2005. Mori Art Museum (Japanese text with English figure-captions). As New. Softbound, with glossy dust-jacket over card covers. See photographs. Archilab:"New Experiments in Architecture, Art and the City, 1950-2005 " was an exhibition in Tokyo that examined, for the first time ever in Japan, those radical and visionary approaches to building design and urban planning that, since World War II, have changed the way we think about and use the city. This is the book of the exhibition. (Japanese text with English figure-captions). Organized by the Mori Art Museum of Tokyo and the FRAC Centre Collection, Orleans, Archilab featured highlights from the collections of the FRAC Centre and the Centre Pompidou, Paris. In more than 220 projects by 90 architects and artists, Archilab revisited urban utopias from the 1950s, analyzed deconstructionist works from the 1980s, addressed the influence of new technology in the 1990s and reflected on the future direction of the current avant-garde. The models and drawings were shown in four sections corresponding loosely to different decades and concerns: The Pulsating City, The Endless City, The Deconstructed City, and The Contextualized City.
