Azarga Eye Drops (Brinzolamide and Timolol Maleate) What are Azarga Eye Drops? Azarga contains the active ingredients brinzolamide and timolol. These eye drops are used to decrease pressure in the eyes of patients with glaucoma and ocular hypertension. How does the active ingredients Brinzolamide and Timolol work? Brinzolamide and Timolol work in different ways to decrease the pressure in the eyeball. Brinzolamide is a a carbonic anhydrase inhibitor. It works by blocking the action of an enzyme in the body which is called carbonic anhydrase. Carbonic anhydrase is usually responsible for the production of a salt called bicarbonate in the body. Bicarbonate is needed for the production of the aqueous humour. A decrease in the production of bicarbonate, in turn decreases the production of aqueous humour. Timolol is a beta-blocker. Beta-blockers work by blocking beta receptors in the eye which reduces the amount of aqueous humour that is produced. Emergency supplys of Azarga: Azarga is a prescription only medicine and an Emergency Supply can only be issued if you are currently being prescribed this medication by your GP. You will need to fill out a questionnaire, which is then reviewed to make sure Azarga is a suitable treatment for you. You will also need to upload proof that you have used this item before.
