A treat for the ears of organ enthusiasts here, with a Late-Sixties release from the ever-desirable, "Philips"-label : The Essex-born (1934) virtuoso organist, Barry Rose plays five pieces, on the organ sited at Guildford Cathedral, in Surrey. Rose is accompanied by *violinist Nap de Klijn, plus **The Girls' Vocal Ensemble and The Lay-Clerks of Guildford Cathedral. The pieces performed, are : * "Symphonic Canzona" by the German, Sigfrid Karg-Elert (1879-1933) ; ** "A Solis Ortu Cardine" by the too-short-lived Frenchman, Nicolas de Grigny (c.1671-1703) ; and, last but-by-no-means-least, three pieces composed by the ultra-legend, that is Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (1756-1791), a) "Fantasia" in F minor AND major b) "Andante" in F c) "Fugue" in G minor ... Side One :- 1) *"Symphonic Canzona" Op.85/3, by Karg-Elert : I Fuge ; II Kanzone ; III Epilog. 2) **"A Solis Ortus Cardine", by de Grigny.
