Two Dutch language books detailing the lived experiences of two exceptional women; "Kathleen Ferrier" (1955) a biography written about the esteemed English contralto singer of the same name and her rise to fame, by her sister Winifred Ferrier and "Ik Was Een Russisch Meisje" (1957) an autobiography by Tanya Matthews, successful author and reporter for the BBC, detailing her struggles with poverty, death and the KGB as a young woman in Russia from 1917-1944. Both books are published by Het Spectrum and are of a similar style to the British Penguin books. Both books are in fair condition. As well-read paperbacks of some considerable age, they have suffered wear to the covers and spines in the form of creasing and tearing, the front cover of 'Kathleen Ferrier' is particularly close to detaching entirely but is still holding on at present. Despite this both book blocks appear to be in good shape, there is some warping in 'Ik Was Een Russisch Meisje' but there doesn't appear to be any creased or torn pages, they both also have coloured edges. Internally both books have been signed and dated by a previous owner however, they are free from any further annotation or marking. The text itself remains clear, legible, and tidy in both volumes.
