Merchant's Category: Media> Music & Sound Recordings
CD reissue of 'lost' (and on LP, rare) modern jazz LP, originally released in USA on Epi Records in 1974, though recorded in 1973. Influences, John Coltrane, Rashaan Roland Kirk, etc. Card slipcase has v minor wear on corners and some superficial marks. Jewel case is excellent, disc is excellent. Slipcase & sleeve design taken from original LP. Brief new notes inside cover. Single card advert for the Soul Jazz list Allmusic: Blow Thru Your Mind contains modal post-bop that is melodic and relatively accessible. This is a very spiritual album; a lot of spirituality goes into the solos of Morris and trumpeter Vincent McEwan, as well as the ethereal vocals of female singer Jay Clayton (who is featured on tracks like "Ether," "Reunion," and "Transcendental Lullaby"). Blow Thru Your Mind is enthusiastically recommended to anyone who is seriously into modal jazz. Tracks: 1. Kitty Bey (Gerald Wise) (12.18); 2. Ether (V McEwan/B Morris) (6.42); 3. Reunion (Lenny Martin/Byron Morris (11.32); 4. Transcendental Lullaby (Vincent McEwan) (7.48) Alto Saxophone, Baritone Saxophone, Percussion - Byron Morris Percussion, Congas, Maracas - Tony Waters Bass - Milton Suggs Trumpet - Vince McEwan* Vocals - Jay Clayton Drums - Abdush Shahid* Piano - Mike Kull Producer - Byron Morris Remix - Ron Carran
