British Furniture Today - Erno Goldfinger. Published by Alec Tiranti Ltd., Hardback (small-format, no dust jacket) 1951. Illustrated. Pagination does not include the section of black-and-white photo plates at the back. This short book, by Hungarian-born architect and furniture designer Erno Goldfinger (1902 - 1987) highlighted what Goldfinger considered to be some of the best British modern furniture design of the time. Goldfinger was an architect and furniture designer who moved to the United Kingdom in the 1930s, and became a key member of the Modernist architectural movement. For some, however, Goldfinger was noted for being a designer of tower blocks, some of which might be termed 'brutalist'; although some, today, are listed buildings. Condition: Good. Inside, perhaps some faint tanning on the first few pages (mostly on the front free end paper) although it is generally clean. The hard cover has kept its colour, although there are some marks (of the same colour) front and back. The white print on the spine is a little faded but still legible.
