Bruno Walter: The Edition Columbia Symphony Orchestra & New York Philharmonic Released by Sony Music 2013 - 39xCD Boxset inc 30-page LP-sized 29x29cm booklet CDs, cases, Book & Box all in excellent condition Sony Classical released a 39-disc set of ``Bruno Walter Edition'' as an international edition. Like ``Bernstein Symphony Edition'' and ``Gunther Wandt the Great Recordings,'' it is housed in a beautiful large LP-sized box. The 32-page LP-sized booklet (English and German only) includes many photos, making it a true collector's item. The 39 CDs contain almost the entire repertoire recorded by Bruno Walter at Sony Classical, with a focus on symphonies by Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven, Brahms, Bruckner, and Mahler (there are multiple recordings of the same piece at different times). If there are any left, one of them is selected). What is noteworthy is that a series of Mozart's symphonies were selected to be recorded in monaural with the New York Philharmonic. Walter, who was at the peak of his physical and mental abilities, freely used the New York Philharmonic to deliver a romantic and fantastical performance that had a different value from his mature performances with the Columbia Symphony Orchestra in his final years. Masu. Sony music 39 CD-box with recordings of Bruno Walter's later years in a high quality LP-sized box. 32 page LP-sized booklet with elaborate liner notes in German and English. This box set contains the complete symphonies of Beethoven and Brahms, the later symphonies of Mozart, symphonies of Mahler and Bruckner, CDs with rehearsals and many more. The German born conductor Bruno Walter (1876-1962) was known primarily for his interpretations of the Viennese school. Though out of step with 20th century trends he was such a fine musician that he became a major figure - filling the wide gulf between the extremes of his day - Arturo Toscanini and Wilhelm Furtwangler.
