James Buchanan founded James Buchanan & Co. in 1884 and immediately set about to assemble Scottish Spirits and craft his first blends. He hit a spot of luck the year after, winning the contract to supply the House of Commons -- the British Parliament -- as the official supplier of Whisky. Well, politicians are people too, just like everybody else in the world, politicians like to drink too. His business took off from there. Today, Buchanan's is a division of industry giant Diageo, and produces a wide variety of blends that are recognized as icons of Scotch world-wide, and are some of the most popular brands in South America. Crafted with over a century of experience, Buchanan's DeLuxe 12 Year Old Blended Scotch Whisky is their most iconic blend. Bottled at 80 proof, this award-winning blend brings sweet and smooth flavors of orange and chocolate. It's aged for 12 years yet the flavor profile is pleasantly light. It won Double Gold and Best in Class Blended Scotch up to 15 Years at the 2020 San Francisco World Spirits Competition and it was rated 96 points at the 2019 Ultimate Spirits Challenge.
