C.D. Howe: A Biography by Robert Bothwell & William Kilbourn - Signed Here is the first major biography of that awesome giant among Canadian politicians, the colossus who dominated the national landscape for more than a quarter century and left it irreversibly changed. Scorned by the press of the Fifties as a calculating manipulator who rammed approval of the Trans-Canada Pipeline through Parliament and sold out Canada's resources to the Americans, C. D. Howe was acknowledged by critics and admirers alike as Minister of Everything. Mackenzie King's Minister of Munitions and Supply, a job which gave him final authority for the entire scope of the nation's war production. But he was also the man who presided over Air Canada, the CBC, international wheat sales, atomic energy, public housing and frontier development from British Columbia to Labrador. Shelf wear. The dustjacket is scratched and torn at the corners and along the edges of the spine. There is writings on the front free endpaper and the book was signed on the first page. Pages are slightly yellowed along the edges. In fair condition.
