In 1984 'saint Jerome writing' by Caravaggio was stolen from St John's Co-Cathedral, Valletta, Malta. One evening Fr. Zerafa, then Director of Museums, was contacted by the the thieves. The paining was eventually returned. This book is a compilation of extracts from Fr. Zerafa's personal diaries, selected and transcribed by Catherine Sinclair Galea. They capture the mystery and intrigue surrounding the theft and negotiations with the thieves.
