Cassell's Magazine is a British general interest magazine that was published monthly from 1897 to 1912. This edition is RARE, and sought after as it contains the Adventures of Rodney Pringle. R. Austin Freeman (Clifford Ashdown) was employed as assistant to the Medical Officer at Holloway Prison Dr. John James Pitcairn where the two collaborated to pen a series of six stories involving a nefarious rogue and under-employed literary agent. Romney Pringle. The stories first appeared in this book in June 1902. the final instalment in the Nov.1902 issue. A collected edition was published by Ward Lock later the same year under the title The Adventures of Romney Pringle. The collected edition volume was granted the title of "the rarest book in detective fiction" by Ellery Queen. All stories in the first series are offered in this Cassell volume. It also contains a 'new story' by Rider Haggard. Dark green/grey boards in good condition. Edges and spine do not have the wear usually apparent on books this age. Binding generally very strong, although the hinges are cracked and page 641 has detached, but is present with all text. Endpapers browned. Many illustrations and photographs.
