This volume contains two titles. Pickwick Papers has retained its frontispiece. retain their frontispiece. It is bound in dark-blue cloth with gilt titling and a pair of gilt bands. It has rubbed spine ends and bumped board corners. Covers have a few surface marks. 'Martin Chuzzlewit' has 59 illustrations by J Barnard, bound with 'Pickwick Papers' that has 57 illustrations by Phiz. There is a previous owner's name on the ffep. There is a split in the cloth on the front spine edge, and the binding is noticeably loose, although there are no loose pages. The first title page is spotted as are the end-papers.
