Cifras de Viola Tiago Matias (Baroque Guitar) Released by Arte Das Musas (2021) New CD in shrink wrap The compilation is the largest known worldwide for baroque guitar, having great artistic and historical value. The 14 works recorded in "Viola Choirs" come from Musical Manuscript 97 of the Coimbra University Library - "Viola Choirs by various authors collected by the graduate Joseph Carneyro Tavares Lamecense" - dated from the beginning of the 18th century. The manuscript contains more than 200 works for baroque guitar (5th order viola), most of which are unpublished music by (still) unknown authors. The compilation is the largest known worldwide for baroque guitar, having great artistic and historical value. This is the first audio recording of this repertoire. "The difficulty in transcribing the works justifies, in part, the lack of solo recordings of this repertoire. This fact motivated me even more to make this record", clarifies the musician and director of the Quartel das Artes Dr. Alipio Sol (Oliveira do Bairro), who adds, on the other hand, that he has transcribed a large number of works from the manuscript over the last few years, of varied styles and authors, in order to know the repertoire of this compilation in a comprehensive way. "The final selection of the 14 works featured on this disc had the collaboration of Pablo Zapico, who shared with me the co-authorship of the transcriptions in this last phase", says Tiago Matias. 14 Tracks See pictures for more details
