Coricancha (garden of gold): Being an account of the conquest of the Inca empire by A. F. Tschiffely Published by Travel Book CLub (1944) Green boards, faded spine and one inch into boards, clean tight pages, hardly any marking, includes folding map opposite title page. Nameplate affixed to inside front board and dedication affixed to facing page, cutting affixed to back page facing board. Name plate on back of front board "Major General H. G. Riley. Royal Army Pay Corps". Major General Sir Henry Guy Riley KBE CB (1884-1964) was a senior British Army officer during the Second World War. Guy Riley was educated at Bedford School. He joined the North Staffordshire Regiment in 1906, served during the First World War, and was mentioned in dispatches twice. He was Paymaster-in-Chief at the War Office between 1937 and 1943. He was invested as a Companion of the Order of the Bath in 1938, and as a Knight Commander of the Order of the British Empire in 1944. He retired from the British Army in 1943 and died on 24 October 1964. Dedication on front page on a Harrods slip "My dear General. 4.8.43. The enclosed are for you in memory of many happy days under you & during our travels. Yours ever sincerely Leslie Mackenzie".
