Corridors Of Power- C.p. Snow First Edition 1964
Merchant: Oxfam
Merchant's Category: Media> Books
Corridors of Power is concerned with the attempts of an English MP to influence the country's policy on nuclear weapons in the 1950s. The central character is Roger Quaife, an ambitious politician and Cabinet Minister. He is widely attacked for his stand on Britain's position in the thermonuclear arms race; at the same time his affair with another woman leads to potential blackmail. Lewis Eliot attempts to assist him in covering up the affair as he supports Quaife's stand on the nuclear question. This is a first edition (1964). It is in fair-good condition. There is some edgewear to the dust sleeve and a slight spot but no tears. The pages are all present and in good condition with just light yellowing and foxing. A previous owner has written their name in the front. This item also includes a newspaper clipping about C.P. Snow written after his death that was left in the book when it was donated.
